Patrol Officer Daniel Good Suspected Of Winning $1.65 Million

Hot Lotto's latest millionaire could be one of Des Moines' finest.

Several officers at the Des Moines Police Department said that patrol officer Daniel Good is the person who bought a Hot Lotto ticket worth $1.65 million.

"Everybody's talking about it. It's a great thing for him," said Capt. Craig Zubrod.

"I'm very happy for him. A little bit envious, I think we all are, but he's a good guy and I'm glad he got it," Zubrod said.

The ticket was purchased at the Quik Trip at 5169 Merle Hay Road in Johnston, which is just north of Interstate 80.

Lottery officials said the winner has contacted them, but will not claim the money until after the first of the year for tax reasons.

Good was not at work Tuesday, which was a pre-scheduled day off. Good said he can't confirm anything.

Good's police salary is $51,000.

Last month, a Fort Madison man won a $1.3 million Hot Lotto jackpot.

No one picked the winning numbers for Saturday's Powerball drawing. The jackpot for Wednesday's Christmas Eve drawing will be around $137 million.

This is the 15th time this year the jackpot has been $100 million or more.
