National Lottery Price to double
For UK lottery players, it is indeed a sad news. From Autumn 2013, main lotto tickets will double to 2 per line. Apparently, Camelots research showed that lottery players were asking for more ways of winning. So they increased the cost, created more possible winners with still...only 50% of money paid to them goes to the prizes. I created an online petition for UK players here. May not change anything especially when big money is involve but we might as well give it a go. clic

Do you play an overseas lottery?
I don't normally play overseas lotteries, but I'm originally from the UK and know the British National Lottery is above board. I may never win a large prize, but I enjoy the fun of playing. And, as the revenue raised is used for good causes in the UK, I'm helping local communities in the UK. Some of the lottery revenue is being used for the 2012 Olympics in London, so I'm also assisting that.

Another win from Africa
If people are interested in an African lottery, South Africa has a National Lottery. It is all above board, just like US state lotteries. The revenue raised is spent on good causes, it follows the example of the UK lottery. It also has a subscription service

Lucky for some
Each week we spend 90m on the national lottery and, in the 10 years since it began, 1,600 of us have hit the jackpot and become millionaires. Some winners have had their lives since portrayed as a horror story. What is it really like, Simon Hattenstone askshttp://www.guardian.co.uk/lottery/story/0,7369,1344311,00.html

A 'risk-free' lottery
Premium Bonds were introduced in 1956, when the UK government tried to encourage ordinary wage earners to save by running a 'risk-free' lottery. Now 23 million people in the UK own at least one premium bond.Investors buy bonds worth 1 from the Post Office or by post from National Savings Investments (NS I). The minimum stake is 100, and the maximum 30,000. Over the past few years sales have rocketed, as people look for a safe home for their investments in the face of turbulent stock markets
