I could see a new national lottery launching in the $1-$2 per ticket range. People will want something for Tuesday's and Friday's to replace Mega Millions. I don't see the price of tickets for Mega Millions dropping. There are enough people out there who will keep buying tickets out of habit so it will limp along with the occasional hyped up jackpot run.

The Mega Millions jackpot has surged by $34 million to $336 million after 19 consecutive rolls marking the largest increase since the launch of the revised Mega Millions format. This rise breaks the previous record increase of $25 million and matches the record for the most consecutive rolls (19) in the current version of the game. The last time the jackpot rolled 19 times, it reached 348 million, just slightly above the current total.

It's kind of funny and ironic how the Mega Millions raised the price of tickets to $5 with hopes of higher jackpots, but the Powerball jackpots are significantly higher.

The Powerball jackpot is also growing slower than it has in the past. The current Powerball jackpot at $384 million was reached after 25 rolls. The record jackpot for 25 rolls is double the current jackpot at $768 million. Patience is required if you are waiting for the next $1 billion jackpot.

While the revenue is being talked about and consideration is being given to what percent is being generated at a certain dollar value, people are also not including the starting point of $50 Million which, IMHO, is another bells and whistles gimmick in this new improved MM version from MUSL.
