Your First Vacation?
ttech10, I figured this would be an interesting question to ask to see how many unique answers there are. I know the most common would be something like Hawaii, Las Vegas or some island in the Caribbean, but does anyone have any interesting or unique ideas/plans? Good call! Now we just need someone to mention a Caribbean island! To each their own, but I've always wondered about jackpot winners going to Vegas. What do they think they're going to win in Vegas after habingwon a lottery j

The Welcome to LP Thread
Welkommen, that reminds me of getting off the plane in Hawaii one time and a lady told me to enjoy my stay in Havaii. I said Havaii? She said yes, Havaii. I said ok, thank you. You're velcome, she said.

Should illegal immigrants be able to claim lottery prizes?
Quote: Originally posted by truecritic on July 30, 2010 You know illegals can drive legally in some states? Only seven states Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington allow undocumented immigrants to get driver s licenses. Original Post by joker17 They allow this because that's a way to keep tabs on their whereabouts. Maybe that is why they let them win lotteries too?!!!

If your state doesn't have a lottery...
Alaska and Wyoming get lots of revenue from natural resources. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that not only does Alaska not have a State income tax but they actually pay there residents from oil revenues. Hawaii has alot of wealthy people who probably dont care to play the lottery and besides which state would the Hawaiians buy tickets from? Why does Nevada need a lottery? You can bet on almost anything in Lost Wages. I dont know about Utah...they may not have one for religious rea

Wanting Lots of Stuff
Anybody see NightLine last night? They were showing houses on the Gold Coast of California that sales haven't been affected by the housing slump. They're 10,000 sf on up and going for prices from 13 mil to over 100 mil and the real estate guy said they will probably sell for cash. No sub-prime loans to get foreclosed on there. I used to dream of having several of those type houses in various locations across the US including Hawaii, but somewhere along the way I got real and realized I'd b

If you won the lottery, would you leave dodge or...
Your surroundings and who you live among probably counts more than where you live geographically or any particular state. For me I'd probably move from where I am but I definitely would pick some place low profile, not flock to Vegas or Hawaii or similar places that are mentioned here on LP so often. I used to joke that if I made a score like hitting a lotto jackpot I'd buy buy one of those surplus missile sioos in North Dakota - maybe I actually would! My choice would be based mostly

Lottery Island
I wish there was a lottery island with an economy, where everyone here at the LP could live, and meet having a cookout on the weekends. One huge cookout, with everyone bringing their own food as a participant. Eat, drink and talk about strategies. We could have a different live band playing every weekend. The island would have a population of let's say 100,000. There would be an economy there so everyone could work. Let's all chip in and buy a section of Hawaii....

Off topic: Please do NOT pump gas on May 15th!!
The California NOT have the most expensive gas prices (check Hawaii). Research before making such a claim. As a person who beleives in viewing the entire situation from a rational stand point lets break this scenario down. On average its the jet trans, buses, trucking industry , police cars, fire trucks, delivery vans, that use up the gas and will continue to do so. Go tell a fire truck he cant fuel up because someone on the internet is trying to create an embargo against the oil industry.

states with no lottery
I voted 'other', thinking of Hawaii, which I know next-to-nothing about in the current state of things there. Haven't been to the place in 40-some years. But Hawaiians used to be fairly laid-back folk who didn't get overly concerned about the ulcers other people give themselves over moral issues as an excuse to deprive others of their freedom of choice. Maybe they still have enough of that left to give themselves the freedom of playing the numbers. One thing's certain. No Hawaiian
