Camelot to change UK Lottery from 6/49 draw to 6/59 draw!
I could not believe my eyes when I read the changes planned by UK operators Camelot, which will take place in October. Camelot plan to increase the ballset by TEN numbers, from the current 49 to 59 numbers, increasing the odds against the player from the current 14-million-to-one to *45-million to one*! Yet Camelot have the audacity/gall to clearly state that players will have *more* chances of becoming a millionaire when the changes take place. To justify this wild claim, Came

Are You Willing To Trade No Taxation For Max Publicity
With the UK Lottery, you can have your cake and eat it! Are my winnings tax free? Yes, UK National Lottery prizes are not chargeable gains for the purposes of UK Capital Gains Tax and will not normally be assessed for UK Income Tax. If a prize is won and shared by a syndicate who entered into a written agreement before the win, then syndicate members should not be liable to pay UK inheritance tax. One of the most important decisions for new winners to make is whether to opt t

Will we ever see a double win?
This is from book called50 Philosophy Ideas You Really Need to Know by Ben Dupre. Ironically it's in the chapter titled the Gambler's Fallacy! Here goes: If you're in a lottery start digging..... What are the chances of the same six numbers coming up twice in a row in the UK national lottery? About 1 in 200,000,000,000,000 (200 million million). Not great odds so you would have to be a real mug to choose last week's numbers again.... Well perhaps, but no more of a mug tha

Best/Worst state lottery logos
I wonder which logo was designed first; Oregon, Virginia or that of the UK National Lottery? I think the TN logo is much better than some of the rest. I like the ones that incorporate something the state is known for; there are several of those.

Camelot to change UK Lottery from 6/49 draw to 6/59 draw!
Hi Crystaltips, Ludicrous that Camelot can brazenly describe the addition of *31 million* combinations to the twice-weekly draw as 'exciting' for the player!! Exciting for Camelot Directors is nearer the truth! You (or someone here) may know if there is a person or group in the UK to complain to? I think this is a blatant and outrageous breach of the UK Trade Descriptions Act. Adding 31 million combinations and saying it will be 'exciting' for the player can only be described a

Do you play a lottery other than your state lottery?
Nobody pays me for my own opinions. I support lotteries as I believe that they are an excellent method of raising money for local communities. The UK National Lottery is a perfect example, it has raised billions of pounds for good causes throughout the UK.

Should Lottery Commissions Be Obligated To Maintain Your Anonymity?
The NSW State Lotteries and the UK National Lottery allow all winners to claim their prize money anonymously, without a problem. These two lotteries are the most profession, players and the general public do trust the lotteries, and successful, they raise billion in revenue, in the world. US State Lotteries should look at how they run their businesses and follow their example.

UK HotPicks
Len: The re-branding of the flagship game to Lotto was not the best tonic for the UK National Lottery. The 6/49 game should have been changed to a 6/52 or 6/53 game. Even with falling sales, the 6/49 game is almost always hit. Lotto Extra should be scrapped; replaced by a 5/39 Tuesday Friday game where the jackpot DOES NOT roll over; 2 numbers wins a FREE TICKET, and 75% or more of the prize money goes to punters matching 3 or 4 numbers. Thunderball is a decent game; however, the new Hotp

Not great odds so you would have to be a real mug to choose last week's numbers again.... Well perhaps, but no more of a mug than if you chose any other six numbers. It's just another case of the gambler's fallacy, once a given set of numbers has already come up the chances of those numbers coming up again are no better or worse than any other se
