$1.04 BILLION: Massive Powerball jackpot increases again
4th billion-dollar lottery jackpot this year By Todd Northrop For the fourth time in 2023, a lottery jackpot has reached $1 billion or more twice with the Mega Millions game, and now twice with Powerball. The latest billion-dollar jackpot of the year comes after nobody won last night's Powerball multi-state lottery drawing, sending the Monday jackpot to heights that once seemed unattainable for a lottery game. Monday's Powerball jackpot is currently estimated at $1.04 billion, w

It was the 8th time a lottery jackpot had grown to more than $1 billion, and the seventh time a single ticket won $1 billion or more. By Todd Northrop This week lottery players across the United States will be pulling out all the stops to try and win Powerball, featuring one of the largest lottery jackpots in history, worth an estimated $725 million. If you feel like it's been a long time since Powerball last had a jackpot winner you'd be right. Powerball has seen 35 consecutive drawings since April 19 , when a $252.6 million jackpot was won by a single ticket sold in Ohio. All those drawings have accumulated a mas

Winner of $95 million Lotto Texas lottery jackpot gamed the odds to win
the jackpot would actually be worth $57.8 million. ... there is a top federal income tax rate of 37%. That cuts the cash value amount to around $36.4 million. After spending almost $26 million on every possible number combination, that leaves the purchasing group with a $10 million profit If you spend $26 million in tickets the taxable income from winning $57.8 million is $31.8 million. If you pay 37% tax on every dollar of that you're profit is a hair over $20 million. If it was all taxed

$1.3 billion Mega Millions lottery winner's family sues him for not sharing jackpot
Artist makes some really good points above. Brock Lee also made an interesting point he split the prize with a gf who isn't his baby mama . Db101 added further clarification the most plausible explanation is that they went halvsies (with gf) on purchasing some tickets for that drawing. Lotteries split prizes among members of lottery pools all the time, whether it's a pool of 2 or 20 .. That gf's existence is irrelevant to the story here My take is unless plaintiffs can prove John Doe did not hav

Virginia Lottery retailers escalate boycott, halt ALL lottery ticket sales until further notice
Sure, there's some small number of people out there with generational wealth. Most small business owners are not like that. They start from nothing and create something of value over time. I know that because I did it myself. I have worked since I was 10. I have no college degree. I left the house at 18 and everything I built I did so on my own. And for the last 25 years I have worked every single day without a break. Almost 10,000 days without a day off. So the handed funds , no taxes , and

You'll be taxed at the highest rate - 37% So you'll have 630K after taxes. Am right there with you, but I always have the PP on so that's going to be 2M for me and 1,260,000 after paying Uncle Sam.

Florida man arrested after buying $31,000 worth of lottery tickets using company credit card
I doubt they will take him to court for that small amount. They could dock his pay if he still works there or get a lien on his home or future new employer salary perhaps. A lien would need a court order but it would far less visible to the general public. Most companies have theft insurance policies as well. I think he would owe taxes on that money.
