Florida Lottery to update branding, Web site
Nice dream. However, the govt. is run by people who are elected by people who have no clue about economics, the national debt, national or international issues. Most voters are ignorant and know more about Dancing With the Stars and reality shows than about what really matters. Most people who vote, shouldn't. They're just too dumb. They can't think for themselves and look to the government to do everything for them. Like I said, nice dream.

Canada's new online gambling website may have been hacked
If this was due to hacking, it highlights something I've been in favor of for years - long prison terms for hackers or anyone caught sending out viruses. Computer driven crimes' punishment should be commensurate with the havoc and loss they cause, which is staggering. I realize it would involve international cooperation but a message needs to be sent to these thieves and miscreants that there is a heavy price to be paid if they get caught.

Early talks for a joint Powerball-British lottery game
The states don't lose anything by adding a multi-state lottery, or an international one, if one should come along. The state collects their 50% right off the top, before putting a dime into the prize pool. The worst that happens is that the jackpot is won in another state, and the state doesn't collect any tax on the winnings. That's balanced against the taxes they collect on money spent in another state when the winning ticket is sold in the state. Even if they never sell a jackpot winner, all

International super lottery to create jackpots of $500 million or more
When MegaMillions and PowerBall made their last matrix changes, there were talk of a possible $500M jackpot but it never happened. I'm sure when PB changes its matrix again in January, there will such talks again. There would be no advantage for any state to join an international game as long as PB and MM are available. The problem is jackpots have to start out small because no state or country is going to contribute more to the jackpot then they can recover in tickets sales for each drawing

Heartbreak: Lottery scam led to NJ grandmother's suicide
I would agree with you, but she was only 72 years old! That isn't old by today's standards. Except for those unfortunate individuals who are afflicted with dementia and Alzheimer's disease, the mind is usually the last thing to go. Many great artists are creating brilliant works at 80. As you probably know, Normal Mailer died last week at age 84. He completed a novel last year. A really silly show with Charlie Sheen called 2-1/2 Men has Robert Wagner (age 77) as an occasional guest. He's s

San Francisco is west of Reno, Reno is further west than L.A. but the California coastline from San Francisco down to L.A. veers east. Just look at a map and imagine a plumb line due south from Reno and see where SF and LA are in relation to that line. The hotest spot is usually Death Valley, Novato, CA, or Phoenix. The coldest in the continetnal 48 is often Frostbite Falls - International Falls.

Lottery CEO Rebecca Paul Hargrove and two board members disclosed the figure during a meeting Tuesday with The Tennessean's editorial board.
