Idaho ends Powerball in state, fearing foreign participation
Idaho lawmakers fearing foreign participation in the Powerball lottery killed legislation on Wednesday that would have allowed the game with huge jackpots to continue in the state after a run of more than 30 years. The move came after Idaho Lottery officials sought a change in state law because Powerball is expanding to include Australia in 2021 and Britain in 2022. But current Idaho law only allows lotteries in the state played by people in the U.S. and Canada. Idaho was one of the first

Mega Millions multi-state lottery to get harder to win in Oct.
Many people were extremely vocal when Powerball went to $2 per ticket, but it is undeniable at this point what a stroke of genius it was and how gutsy the Powerball organizers were in putting it through. The brilliance is not just that there would be more money coming in for jackpots (at $2 per ticket), but that by raising the ticket price without making the game any easier to win it almost guaranteed huge jackpots and thereby bring in even more sales! Think about it: in order for the game

S.C. Lottery sales up by 3 percent; Powerball sales down
It's early yet, but the multi-state lottery game Mega Millions has not sent lottery ticket sales shooting through the roof in South Carolina. Overall, sales are up about 3 percent. UK Lottery operator plans $500 million global lottery game
I'd rather spend the money for a game with better odds. After blowing $20 for one Florida Raffle ticket, I would never play another game with a $20 ticket price. The odds for that game were only 125,000 to 1 and I still didn't win anything. The only way I'll ever play another raffle game is if they add a few hundred $1,000 prizes and maybe some $500 or $100 prizes, or if they lower the ticket price. At least with a lot of lower tier prizes, a player has a chance of getting his money back.
