I like the classic Diamond series of slots by IGT (Double Diamond, Triple Diamond, Deluxe variants etc.) They are simple but have some of the best payout programs in the casino, at least according to an analysis I did several years ago. Last time I visited I hit $300 on my 2nd spin, and $150 on another machine of similar type. I haven't played video slots but hear they make the hold more bearable due to the elevated entertainment value

Xavier's advice was good. I do a variation of the same idea. When you get on a machine give it five chances for a win. If it doesn't win move on. If it does win stick with it and count your losing spins up to five consecutive losses in a row. If you're sitting at a machine for a while and you've been hitting you can relax your cutoff to let's say ten losers in a row. This technique has a couple of advantages. About the only things you can do is limit how much the casino can win from you and have an amount you want to win after which you walk away. Never turn to the ATM, arrive with an amount for slots, never spend more then that because if luck were on your side for the day you wouldn't need more money.
