Keep in mind on PB
that if no one hits this jackpot no one gets the favored 10x. But seriously is it really worth it honestly. It would be nice but once it goes past $125 million there is no 10x. Was that just a marketing strategy?

Maryland June Raffle
actually not a bad marketing idea to get radio stations involved to give em away. At least they would hit the target date. I recently heard the suggestion of creating the buy two get one free as a possible way. I mean think about it, they are already at a 5 to one lead anyways when a ticket is sold. So its no harm no foul for them to create such a gimmick to get those tickets sold out.

Powerball now behind on cash
People should not pay attention to the annuity values, which are all marketing. Even if one intends to take the annuity for whatever reason, the measure of true value is the cash.

Probability of a Rollover in Powerball.
The cash value of the Powerball jackpot that just rolled over was, based on sales, was $151M. The new cash value is $164.4M. Although the new cash jackpot is not as high as Jack's jackpot, $170.5M, the Powerball marketing department's annuity value to click in the lottery cap. This means that it is impossible to match Jack's jackpot on this drawing. The Powerball will be distributing, it says, about $13,000,000 of cash value to the second tier 5+0 prizes. The combined cash value of the 5+0 an

Is powerball sandbagging the jackpot?
I don't think so. Sales for this run were, including the last draw, $257,821,615. This suggests that the cash value should have been around 86.8 million were the prize won. This is actually higher than they predicted.I get my sales figures from Lottoreport.com. Do you get yours somewhere else?I still thinking they're sandbagging or engaged in some kind of marketing game. It will be interesting to see if, as is improbable, the jackpot is actually won this time. I'll bet that the prize is muc

'Blue Game' pitched to MUSL members
I don't understand why anyone would want jackpot limits unless they clearly have no understanding of marketing and economics. Not that powerball has to worry about any such limits since they have yet to hit the highs they were at in 2002. To me it just shows that the people at MUSL are just looking for a future in something other than lotteries and don't take their current job very seriously. I also don't understand the interest in the blue game since there is more of a chance that everyone on t

Crazy Jackpot Swing over next 2 Draws
This will be interesting to watch, because we can really see the effect of California now:On April 19th (just 3 months ago), the jackpot rolled from $168 million to $205 million for the April 22nd drawing, at which time it was hit.Prior to that, the last time it was this big was one year ago on June 25, 2004, when it was $177 million. After that, the jackpot went to $220 million on the 29th, then straight to $290 million on July 2, 2004 (when it was hit). What does this mean? I think that if we

Another high second prize payout for PB!!
It's not balls that are the problem, its a poor matrix design. They should have altered the game a long time ago. Instead they chose to ignore the problem and had a long string of low jackpots. You can't have a game with close to 200 million potential players and have such low odds without expecting to have low jackpots and low sales. Computer chosen numbers just add a justified sense of mistrust and misses the potential marketing advantages that balls have. If Mega gets a large pot you can bet

To Powerball-Ohio 6/49 players
Cash Only: Many states do not advertise the cash value, but it has nothing to do with fluctuating interest rates! As I've said in the past, the cash value is the easiest thing for the State Lottery to calculate, because it is simply a function of how many tickets have been purchased. It is actually more difficult for the lottery to calculate the annuity value, since that involves fluctuating return rates, not the cash value.I believe many states do not advertise the cash value because of the n
