well some of the comments in it, made me think of this.
I've read quite a few if (no one could read them all) of the posts about various means of number selection.
I've been tracking a few that I've seen here, and my findings are different than what some people here claim, but I'll qualify that by saying I track what I'm going to play. For me it's Illinois Evening Pick 3 and Little Lotto.
I also throw a buc

CA Backtesting Of Pick-3 Oracle System
Did a back test with the Oracle program in CA Midday Daily-3 game. Started with 1 September. Very encouraging results. There were 3 Straights and 7 Boxed wins. Six wins came from Row-1, 3 wins from Row-2, and 1 win from Row-3. The 2 Straights came from Row-1, and one Straight from Row-2. I have also been just looking at the CA Evening game, and it did not do so well. If you happen to have the Oracle program, test it in your favorite State, and let us know the results.

Incredible and spectacular pick 3 tool
RJOh,
I agree with your statement about backtesting. It's a smart thing to do before laying the money out.
I disagree with your statement about $50-$500 wins vs. winning an upper tier jackpot game prize. The odds-to-payout ratio is clearly in favor of the pick 3 and 4 player.

Pencil and Paper Jackpot Calculations
Backtesting is the fun part for me. It has allowed me to dismiss every system I have come up with so far as nothing more than coincidental. Of course in games of chance, past results bear no indication whatsoever on future performance... it is fun to try though.
I broke down and bought Statistics for Dummies . I can see just from skimming it that I was completely mis-using excel in my favorite home-brew stat system for PB. Once I finish reading the book, I may just revive that system from th

Pick 3 Strings!!
Great observation there..
Backtesting would be easier with a program that would set up the strings and the combos..
Everything in this game is worth a try to get those picks narrow down to less numbers and more wins.

Hot Summer Strings!!
At this rate it might be worth investing a buck in a NM ticket by the end of August, possibly.
Although I'd imagine the programmers over at the NM Lottery Commission are busybusybusy making sure that by then the RNG's careful not to crank out anything that fits the formula if their backtesting demonstrates it would have worked by then.
Gracias,
Jack

Budward,
Wow! I noticed you are from Illinois. What do you think about these little gems? I'm going to check out your blog. Thanks for backtesting. Keep me posted.

Pencil and Paper Jackpot Calculations
I too am a pencil and paper user, but in a different sort of way. I mainly just look at my spreadsheets, and should I see something workable, I get a pencil and jot on my sheet. I don't play the lottery as much as I try to figure out it's system. I guess I don't feel comfortable yet with some of my systems. They work might work for a couple of numbers during backtesting, but then I lose my way. Hmmm. I'll keep trying though. I too find joy in just trying to figure the whole thing out.

Incredible and spectacular pick 3 tool
Excellent advice emtcee. Backtesting doesn't cost anything and allows one to get acquainted with the tool. I also posted some good info on how to use the hot-medium-cold feature : https://www.lotterypost.com/thread/1370482 (at the bottom)
Cheers,

Incredible and spectacular pick 3 tool
frisky,
you have to experiment with what works for your state by backtesting...it may be 10 draws,it may be 15 or 20...i find in new jersey its 15,seems to be most consistant...after you press the go button you have to maually assign the digits...either hot, cold or medium via the drop down boxes....there is alot of info to use in this tool so experiment with it...stefan made a great and useful tool so use it wisely....
