Irish family celebrate after record €175 million lottery win
A family from a village outside Dublin, Ireland, has claimed a 175 million (US$198.7 million) EuroMillions jackpot after stashing the winning ticket in an Argos catalog under a mattress. The family spent the day digesting and celebrating the news that it had won Ireland's biggest-ever jackpot. This is unbelievable. It will take us some time to get our heads around this win and to organise ourselves, said a spokesperson for the family, which has not been named. We are a very close fami

Advice about setting up a lottery syndicates
Obviously we already thought of putting people in groups with allocated tickets to prevent them from claiming more than what they deserve. We knew that other lottery syndicates charge so much that they only play around 30-50% 0f the money they receive and this is the reason why we didn't join other online lottery syndicate. We also belong to a syndicate before but it seems that we two are the only people who can spend a bit more than 100 a month. Re: being sued. We already have thought

Syndicate
Hi everyone, my name is Claude and I have won big time (40G) at the lottery and I am still winning smaller pots . I do not beleive in predictions or lottery systems, but I do beleive in Syndicates. Lottery machines and balls don't have any memory, and they are subject to the law of probability. There is no way, absolutely no way to beat this law. But is is possible to increase your chance of winning by joinning a Syndicate. Thanks Claude

thoughts on lottery syndicates
I think the best approach is to invest back any winnings that are not reasonable. If you win $1000 there is no point in dividing that out. But if you win $50K, then $5K per person is not a bad place to start. It's a good motivation to keep people psyched up. I wouldn't join a syndicate that plays just the jackpot knowing from the start that the odds are clearly against us. I would gladly join a syndicate that plays the multipliers.

UK Lottery pool member wins share of £1 million prize the day he retired
Happy Retirement! By Kate Northrop A member of an 11-person lottery group won a share of a 1 million (US$ 1,263,025) EuroMillions prize the day he retired. A lottery win came at the right time for one Scottish lottery player who found out he was splitting a 1 million EuroMillions prize with his lottery pool on the same day he retired. Robert Pert, of Montrose in Angus, Scotland, is part of a lottery syndicate made up of 11 employees at GPG Montrose Garage, including mechanics, te

Lottery pool goes to court after man with losing ticket demands share of $63.3 million prize
Lottery player insists he has a winning ticket By Kate Northrop What started as a feel-good story for a lottery pool is turning sour after a man with a losing ticket claims the group owes him more than $260,000 (US$182,013) from a $63.3 million (US$44.3 million) Australian Powerball prize. Some might remember the 250 member Facebook group named Goldfields, let's pay our mortgages that won a share of the $126 million (US$91.3 million) Powerball jackpot in the Australian Lottery in F

Steve Player is at it again
Gail Howard, Robert Serotic's syndicate, and many others did lots of advertising on Lotto World Magazine too. And I wouldn't be surprised the same Aussie syndicate that bought out the Virginia Lottery advertised there for new members. IMO, most of the Steve Player systems are playing strategies that have the same odds against and are not any more productive than any other method. A good example is their pick-4 doubles box where players buy 36 tickets and parlay the winnings by buying 360 more

Would you stop playing the lottery if you were restricted to Quick Picks?
As far as that Aussie group, I'm surprised that didn't happened more often. BobP can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe I saw lotto syndicate ads in Lotto World magazine. Robert Serotic was involved in syndicates and won 8 or 9 jackpots. They were similar to office pools with the exception the shares cost much more. In the 80s multi winners were common in Ohio lotto and possibly because of syndicate play.

Do you have to pay tax on a lottery win?
Are my winnings tax free? National Lottery prizes are not chargeable gains for the purposes of UK Capital Gains Tax and will not normally be assessed for UK Income Tax. If a prize is won and shared by a syndicate who entered into a written agreement before the win, then syndicate members should not be liable to pay UK inheritance tax. However, please note that Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs law and practice may change. The above comments are based on our understanding of HM Revenue and Cus
