How the lottery generates the ticket numbers
Gail Howard's books are full of incorrect statements, including the oft repeated claims that some combinations of numbers are more likely to come up than others.
I doubt she said that quick pick has chosen one particular combination thousands of times in an a single drawing. It is true that that combination is chosen by people quite frequently because people are lousy at choosing random numbers as well as lazy so they check off the first 6 numbers and submit it.
I do give her credit for us

Luckiest States
I agree with your assessment on quick picks. I think the mechanism and or algorithm used could easily be tampered to favor bad combinations. That is why I always pick my numbers. If you fill out a play slip it doesn't matter where you bought the ticket from.
The same argument holds true for scratchers here in ga. It Seems like a high proportion of the winning tickets are from lower income areas. Is this a case of correlation not causation? It could be those areas have heavier players or it c

A spin on Gaps
So to further explain how to reduce the pool of remaining combinations from which to do a quick pick you could remove the Lettered Gaps that:
1) have appeared in the past N drawings (N based on whatever appears statistically better to use with a Letter Gap repeating)
2) have the least amount in their group. AAAA, AAAB, AABA, ABAA, BAAA, AABB, ABAB, BBAA, BBAA.
Like I said, I will try to get my lap tap up and running and print out a report of stats... I hope people here w

Strategy
My strategy this time is to buy a few tickets a day in different areas and different types of stores. Basically, I'm just doing my normal driving, but hitting a bunch of places as I go. Grocery store, gas station, drug store. I'm just buying one ticket at each place, at different times of day.
They will mostly be quick picks, but I'll probably do a couple that I pick out.
I figure I'll spend around $26.
What about you?
