Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
That rollover is pretty interesting when it comes to the Annuity payout. The differences between $850M $950M around payment 8 starts talking a smidge louder. https://www.texaslottery.com/export/sites/lottery/Documents/jackpotestimates/pb20250827.pdf

Powerball reaches $643 million: highest lottery jackpot of 2025
I don't know if my post was that clear but I meant those as advertised annuity values. Anyway good luck to all who are throwing their money away at these fake jackpot levels.

Virginia Mega Millions $348 million lottery winner plans to buy lawnmower with record prize
Yes, they prefer for you to take the annuity. They probably make some extra off of that. What they don't do is use your winnings to pay smaller pots. But the age of winners is on the elderly side so they just take the lump sum it seems. The more common 1 million dollar winners end up with around 460k. If you don't know that going in it must be a jolt to your cardiovascular system after you held a million dollar check for the picture and 20 minutes later they come out with a check for 463,219.00

Mega Millions constant $10 million increases
A $2 prize (times whatever multiplier, so $4 to $20) for matching two white balls would add 18% to the value of all non-jackpot prizes in total. That's a lot for such a small win. More accurately a $2 prize for matching 2 white balls would reduce the money that goes to the jackpot by about 14.6%. That would reduce the current cash value of $67.9 million to $58 million. For those who believe the advertising it would reduce the current $150 million annuity to $128 million if they abandoned or

US Powerball multi-state lottery game expanding to the UK
Someone Above said if someone in Uk wins the lottery they can take the money and run away and not pay complete Federal tax later. And am thinking Now how can you run away in the first place when they gave you no Lump sum option only annuity. If you run away they freezes the rest of your Annuity Payments Ok when people win Powerball the top tax is like 37 percent. There are two ways to pay federal government. One way is the player pays 37 percent and the other way is l guess each sold t

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
If they advertise $794M, they get less excitement/sales than if they advertise $800. I more or less agree with your reasoning because, even though it's a small difference in the grand scheme the lottery would be offering a few million bucks more. If you look at advertised jackpots from the past I think you'll find that for whatever reason they take their best guess at sales and stick with that number. Four weeks ago they advertised the jackpot as $547 million instead of a nice round 550 whi

$1.8 BILLION: Powerball jackpot now second-largest ever as ticket sales surge across the USA
I hope no one wins tomorrow so the record gets broken! I've been waiting along time for that, but the real record is something north of $997.6 million in cash. To get there we need an annuity of $2.173 billion or so (assuming the interest rate doesn't change). I think we should be at the point where sales for Monday should at least be almost as big as Saturday's, and that's what we saw last Monday. If we see 1.844 tonight that's an even $400 million more than Wednesday, so we'd need an incr

Powerball lottery tickets go on sale in the UK on July 21
Call me a conspiracy theorist but, what I see is a billion dollar jackpot before September to 'welcome' the UK players. Which will be split between a UK ticket and a US state. I'm not saying they control the numbers... but they sure as hell know about the probability cycle and they can estimate when a draw is close to winning. The UK is coming in at about 700 million est... Just wanted to say this out loud to someone even if you don't agree or tell me they can't control 'random'. It's going
