New Hampshire Lottery celebrates 45th anniversary
Trailblazing N.H. had first-in-nation lottery
A tragic mistake. A scandalous experiment in state financing. The shame of New Hampshire.
Opponents of expanded gambling argue that it would hurt the state's image and cause more problems than it would solve. But the quotes above aren't from the current legislative debate; they're from newspaper editorials written in 1964, when New Hampshire launched the nation's first legal state-run lottery.
As the state considers allowing video slot mac

N.C lottery retailers caught selling tickets to minors
In August and September, teenagers working for North Carolina state law enforcement officers walked into more than 300 places where North Carolina lottery tickets are sold.
They had been given strict and careful instructions. Try to buy a ticket. Carry your real ID. If asked about your age, don't lie.
At 91 stores more than 28 percent of the locations checked clerks sold them tickets, even though it is against the law to sell one to a person younger than 18.

N.C. Lottery conviction sends message about disclosure
More indictments may be forthcoming
