ok once more if your having static on your phone then that same static is going to the modem since both are connected to the same telephone pole. (Modems need a clear signal to function at the best speed) One it dosen't cost a cent for you to have them check the line tell them you do not wish to have a repair man come to your home he she will check the lines condition right from wherever he or she is sitting. they will ask you to stay off the line for a few minutes while they check the lines
