Pennsylvania Lottery pays off for state's senior citizens
Darlene Henderson has played the daily Pick 4 off and on since the 1980s, though she hasn't won a substantial jackpot. Her payoff from the Pennsylvania Lottery comes from the more than $1 billion raised annually for senior programs and services statewide. From the beginning, they always said it was to help senior citizens, said Henderson, 67, of East Liberty. That's a good cause. Since its first drawing in 1972, Pennsylvania's lottery has contributed nearly $25 billion to senior progr

Idaho Raffle Adds Instant Win Component
They've been trying for years to get people to buy tickets earlier. This year they're offering a $5,000 prize (awarded in a drawing) to someone who buys a ticket in the first 10 days. And they are giving an instant $1,000 prize to the person who buys each 25,000th ticket. I coulda sworn there used to be a two or four $25,000 prizes, but none this year. I don't like the prize matrix at all. TWICE IN A LIFETIME! IDAHO FALLS WOMAN CLAIMS SECOND SIX FIGURE LOTTER

Anyone having luck in PA?
What are you playing? A few here and there or rolls? Low or high cost tickets? How long had you been playing in Florida and what type? Did you play often enough to get a feel for what to go for in Florida tickets or were you just lucky with a little bit played? $20 PA tickets - Goldens are usually good but they fell pretty much back to paying $20 The new $20 Christmas ticket will be good for a couple days...they're hard to scratch and annoying to the senses

Tech industry sets its sights on gambling
Look out Las Vegas, here comes FarmVille. Silicon Valley is betting that online gambling is its next billion-dollar business, with developers across the industry turning casual games into occasions for adults to wager. At the moment these games are aimed overseas, where attitudes toward gambling are more relaxed and online betting is generally legal, and extremely lucrative. But game companies, from small teams to Facebook and Zynga, have their eye on the ultimate prize: the rich American

Post your scratch ticket results
I don't know what the trick is in PA but I do know that for the past few months it's exactly what omiller described. The wins on just $5's used to be so much better. It wasn't impossible to do well on $5 tickets...$20's, $50's and $100's were almost common...now that common has been replaced with $0's and $5's. 20x the Money tickets give $5 wins all the time...it's hard to find anything better than that. $5 Big Money tickets are no better. And these are the ones that were supposed

D.C. continues rollout of online gambling
The bright glass-and-copper library on Benning Road NE just beyond the Anacostia River opened last year as an anchor for redevelopment and a refuge for the mind. Now, District officials are deciding whether they should use the gleaming outpost in a depressed section of the city for another pioneering purpose: as a gateway to online gambling and the promise of millions of dollars in government revenue. The scramble is on to launch an online casino in the District, which is the first jurisdi

New Hampshire repeals taxes on lottery prizes
Lottery commission celebrates with Tax Repeal Tea Party Starting Monday, New Hampshire residents no longer have to pay taxes on their lottery winnings. The state imposed a 10 percent tax on gambling winnings over $600 in 2009, but the tax was repealed by the current Legislature under a bill going effect Monday. Gov. John Lynch last week signed into law the bill repealing the tax, which officials said hurt the racetrack and battered lottery sales after the state enacted it two years ago
