Gambling casinos on TX + other states.
First I have to admit I'm biased because I live right next door in Louisiana. When Texas didn't have a lottery, alot of Texans came across the border to Louisiana to buy tickets. Alot of Texans come across the border to gamble in our casinos. The most successfuly Louisiana casinos are the casinos located in Shreveport and Lake Charles, both very near the border. My state would benefit if Texas kept casinos, video gaming machines, and the lottery out<grin>.On a more serious note, Louisi

How many people are not sure how much they spend on the lottery?
I'm not 21 yet, but studying games like Poker and Blackjack that can give the player a mathemetical edge are preferable than lottery games which don't offer an edge (at least most times). Right now U.S. online poker is stuck in limbo because Congress can't or won't create legislation while the good poker players around the world are making a good living playing online poker. Live poker is still going strong, but just not the same. The World Series of Poker started the other day and millions

online gambling law
Legal Landscape of Online Gaming Has Not Changed Misleading news stories abound both online and in print regarding the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. The completely incorrect interpretation states that the new bill essentially outlaws most forms of Internet gambling. The new bill absolutely does no such thing. I have been analyzing legal issues for 25 years. I have gone to court thousands of times interpreting statutes and I have taught new lawyers the correct m

NJ Resident Dreams Up Scratch Game
It all came to Rocco Promutico in a dream. On a day when he had shoulder surgery, back in 1998, Promutico had a very vivid dream: He was sitting at a table in a casino, playing a game called Six Shooters. I was playing a game that I had never seen before, Dover Township resident Promutico said. When I woke up, I was able to sit down and draw out a whole sketch of how the game was played. From that sketch came the basic structure of a game called Roll 6 Poker, which last month was transforme

Full Tilt Poker a ponzi scheme, says U.S. attorney
An Internet poker company that was blocked from operating in the U.S. in the spring as part of an online gambling crackdown was not a legitimate poker company, but a global Ponzi scheme, federal prosecutors said Tuesday. The popular Full Tilt Poker website illegally raided player accounts to fund operations and make lavish payments to its owners, Justice Department lawyers said in a revised civil lawsuit filed in New York. Over four years, the company used $444 million in player money to p

Poker star Phil Ivey loses casino case in Britain
Includes video report Imagine you go to a casino to play blackjack. You find a table, sit down and buy some chips. Gambling has few barriers to entry. After awhile, you notice: For some reason, all of the cards higher than 9 are marked. Because of some slight imperfection in the deck, you can tell whether a card is an ace, king, queen, jack or ten before it's turned over. Because of a manufacturer's mistake, you have a huge advantage over the house. And the dealer doesn't notice. You de
