Powerball draw for 12/25/2023
Many stores close on Christmas day, so less sales. I didn't bother to drive out to buy a ticket on Christmas day. Saved myself a $2 loss. No online purchases in AZ yet.

Numbers submitting Cutoff Time
The thing about cut off time to me is that it's automated. It's software that's cutting off sales at all retailers terminals at whatever time the lottery arbitrarily decided they wanted terminals shut down prior to the draw. So who made that decision? Some programmer that works for the lottery while he/she was writing the code to do it? In the programmers defense it could have been in the documented program specifications he/she received to write the code. But now that it's in the code, the

$1.33 billion Powerball jackpot won by one ticket sold in Oregon
Based on sales and recalling the fact that every drawing resets the probabilities, the most likely outcome of this particular drawing was that there would be NO winner (nearly 70%). However, most likely doesn't mean guaranteed because of....probability. You can figure this with the below formula: When you plug in # tickets sold for this drawing

The Idiot Tax

Massachusetts store clerk who tried to steal customer's $3M lottery prize sentenced to probation
You can't buy that type of ticket on-line. Massachusetts last I knew doesn't even have on line sales. Our instant tickets here in KY are totally different than scratch tickets in the store. In addition you get to wager, if you will, how much you want to spend. One was twenty cents all the way up to $20.00. Then the computer 'scratches' the ticket to see how much you won.
