New Yorkers do play raffle games... except they do it in Pennsylvania. New York's border state of Pennsylvania has been holding their Millionaire Raffle for more than the last 20 consecutive years. They sell just 500,00 tickets, ($20 each) tickets sales run from November 4, 2025 to January 3, 2025. Well, without putting it quite like that, I don't understand why every lottery doesn't have a holiday raffle every year. For example, my home state of New Jersey has the raffle one year and then doesn't have it again for several more years. Yet, it sells out every time they do have it. I wish state lotteries would explain themselves for the obvious money left on the table. At the same time, hats off to Pennsylvania, which in my view has the perfect raffle every year.

I too have had 'trouble' with what's being argued so passionately in this thread. When I lived in the Northeast, although I lived in New York State, I lived in close proximity to Pennsylvania. Every Fall The PA Lottery (for what I'm guessing is the last 20 years or more) holds their Millionaire Raffle. According to the raffles official rules, a maximum of 500,000 tickets can be sold. Does anybody know if any of the top prize winners of a million dollars in the current raffle will be able to remain anonymous? I won 40 bucks yesterday. I'm going to spend it on two millionaire raffle tickets. If I was ever so lucky to win one of the top prizes, I'd want to claim it anonymously, but I'm not sure that can happen. The PA raffle logic is based on the number of tickets sold, so if there is a sellout, the odds are correctly stated as 125,000 to 1. (500,000 tickets, 4 top prizes) Now, if there are less tickets sold, only sold numbers go into the raffle... if only half sell, then the possible outcomes are reduced... to 62,500 to 1 (odds) (250,000 tickets, 4 top prizes) They put these tickets that win the weekly $50,000 back in for the big prize drawing, but actually you are correct, the possible outcom

Yup. I had my brother who still lives in New York buy some raffle tickets for me. I bought 5 and they cost $100. He and his wife were here in Florida over the holidays and gave them to me. No luck at all, but I'm a raffle guy and I'd buy them again without any hesitation. G5
