Mathematics and the Lottery
joker17,
This was discussed in depth in my two threads on Backtesting and Simulating. If I convinced anyone that they can't control their fortunes while betting on random processes, they didn't post anything to indicate that I did. If you go back to the beginning of the Backtesting and Simulating Lottery Systems thread and study it, perhaps you'll begin to see what Michael Bluejay and I are trying to explain. A graphical explanation of what you and your friend are observing can be seen here i

May 18 All States Thus Far: The Missing Digit
Great strategy Laverne.! I would think it would be fairly rare when a digit does not show in a specific position for a whole day. Have u done any backtesting to see how often it occurrs?
Keep up the great ideas!!!

how to calculate the odds of this
hi all , I am backtesting some systems and I would like to know if someone can give me the mathematical formula to figure out the odds of the following --- Lets say just for example Im playing 29.6 % of all #s and yet none of my #s come out for 17 consecutive drawings. Would the odds be 29.6% divided by 2,divided by 2 ,divided by 2 ,etc... 17 x ?
thanks in advance , J

Interest In Backtesting and Simulating Lottery Systems
If you would take my advice and read
Someone's opinion who isn't a member of LP?
P.S. Hint: A Backtest does not require a Monte Carlo simulation component.
Based on observation, RJ back tested RC5 and found that in slightly over 50% of drawings 1 - 2 numbers repeated and I did the math showing the probability that slightly over 50% of all the possible combinations have 1 - 2 repeating numbers. From that innocent exchange you said:
It seems that you and RJOh are basically saying

Pick-3 Scientific calculator method
The 1/x key works good lately for NM take the number example: 619 for last Saturday's game and put in 169 order. It is show as an x with a -1 to the right on the calculator. Th results of yesterdays draw was 537. the one over of 169 gave the 57 but as 597. However, there were two areas wit the 57. I also have experimented while backtesting by taking the mirror of the number and one over it and the hit comes out with all 3 numbers. This may work to put you in the ballpark of selections of #'s.

Four to Six day rule for Pick -3
I like this Joker, Thanks, will do some backtesting, plus I wonder if pairing the repeats up with the overdues,
Did that make sense ? LETS SAY 643 COMES OUT SO THEN YOU HAVE THE PAIRS 34- 36- 46 , AND THE PAIR 47 IS OVERDUE SO ADD 347 467 , MAKE SENSE?

What is a lottery system? What distinguishes a lottery system from guesses, dreams and quick picks?
I don't expect anyone to agree with me on this, but I tend to believe somewhat strongly that a system that groups outrageous clusters and combinations during sorts and filtering while backtesting, but hits zero-to-none when tested on a future draw is a sure sign of being onto something but slightly off somewhere within the system ... out of tune in some way that, if discovered and corrected or adjusted, will be a winner. I consider that a success waiting for more work.
I believe a great syste

I hsve been backtesting GAplayer's pair system
Mirror 1 number and use LL's +56. For some reason I ca't open my Kansas thread where I have the link but it is under the topic Sick and Tired of Pairs on the system forum Now this systems seems to work for Kansas better than the other systems I have tried for Kansas. I played 5 numbers today using the system so maybe I can win $40 on $2.50 investment

Hey NYSLUGGER777,
I wanted to share with you something I saw last night. While I was doing some backtesting on some Pick 3's with another system......... I slumped down in my chair when it threw out 000. Now I'm going to have to go back to my history browser and find the one I was using. I'll let you know ASAP!!! And what Number I ran to come up with it.
