Massachusetts official warns lottery could become "irrelevant"
With time running out again on a bill that would authorize the Massachusetts Lottery to move online, Treasurer Deborah Goldberg offered a message to business leaders Wednesday morning: We don't want to go the way of Toys R Us.
The massive toy store chain announced plans to shut down its operations on March 15 and is now running liquidation sales across its more than 800 locations.
Goldberg, whose office oversees the Lottery, said Toys R Us was very late to the game to beginning to sell the

Today. 16 Years Ago.
9/11 was a Luciferian false flag attack to usher in satanic new world order.
How did building 7 of WTC collapse when other building were left standing? A demolition brought it down.
Then there were Dancing Israelis when the twin tower collapsed. They were caught with box cutters and bomb making material. 2 of them were active duty soldiers in IDF. There were briefly detained and questioned by the FBI, and quickly released. No doubt Mossad operatives who actually carried out 9/

Report: Ohio Lottery should make changes to organization
Changes could be coming for the Ohio Lottery, including adding electronic table poker, online gaming, and a greater variety of instant tickets.
Those are among the recommendations from Spectrum Gaming Group, a New Jersey research and professional services firm, hired by the Kasich administration to produce a business assessment of the Ohio Lottery, now 42 years old. The study cost $601,600, according to documents from the Department of Administrative Services.

Hope still alive: Alabama House passes modified lottery bill
The Alabama House of Representatives narrowly approved Gov. Robert Bentley's proposed state lottery Thursday night after 10 hours of contentious debate and two vote attempts.
Legislators clapped and cheered as the bill passed shortly before midnight on a 64-35 vote, exceeding the 63 votes required to pass the chamber. The bill now moves to the Alabama Senate where senators must decide whether to go along with mostly minor House changes to the legislation.

Illinois Lottery winners again might not get paid
People who've waited more than a year for Illinois leaders to finish a state budget might start to feel like the prospects of a compromise are similar to the odds of winning the lottery.
Now, Illinois Lottery winners might again face the prospects of not being paid their jackpots in a timely manner if no spending deal is struck by the end of the month.
Last year, lottery winners sued the state to get their payouts and eventually did after Gov. Bruce Rauner and lawmakers agreed on a patchwo

Ohio Lottery to conduct review of operations
Not a move to privatization, officials say
State officials say there are no plans to privatize the Ohio Lottery Commission amid a pending top-to-bottom review of its management and a document holding out privatized state lotteries as models of interest.
A state request for proposals issued on Aug. 24 seeks a consultant to conduct a comprehensive review of the lottery and recommend ways to contain costs and maximize profits, which largely are routed to public schools.

Private management could be Alabama lottery option
If Alabama gets a lottery, private management may at least be an option.
But the Republican leader of the Senate said Wednesday he did not want to commit to any particular proposal, being wary of some of the negative experiences of other states with private managers.
Having no experience in the lottery field, we're just going to have to look at what other states have done and what's worked best for them, he said.

Keno opens a new fight over Arkansas lottery
Arkansas lottery officials won't just be making the case for why they should be allowed to expand their games to include offerings such as keno when the Legislature meets next year. They'll also be making the case for not completely overhauling their structure.
Legislation approved in a special session last week that bars the lottery from launching monitor games such as keno until March 13, 2015, ensures that the issue will be at the top of the agenda when lawmakers convene for next year's se

Wyoming Lottery commission selects vendor
In a major step toward getting a statewide lottery up and running, the Wyoming Lottery Corp. board on Friday selected international gaming giant Intralot as the state's lottery vendor, pending negotiation of a contract with the company.
Intralot, based in Athens, Greece, would provide the machines from which Powerball and Mega Millions tickets would be purchased as well as other technical services.
Board chairman Brian Scott Gamroth said the step provides a light at the end of the tunnel,

Pennsylvania Senate may work privatization deal
But solution may not come until 2014
There is broad support among Senate Republicans to give the governor authority for a private company to manage the Pennsylvania Lottery and legalize electronic games such as keno to boost state revenue, the Senate majority leader said on Monday.
But quick action in the Legislature appears unlikely, said Sen. Dominic Pileggi, R-Delaware County. He didn't rule out a vote on Tuesday but noted long odds against that happening. Many senators want further vet
