There is a discussion in the MM thread about taking the annuity vs cash value. I thought taking the cash value is 100% the right decision. Long term investments will almost always beat the return of a annuity right?

If the interest rates didn't change, the reduced cash would mean that the annuity would also be smaller by about $7 million so I only see two possibilities. One is that they actually revised the sales estimate downward and the interest rate somehow magically increased exactly enough that the annuity purchased at a higher interest rate is the same as the one they advertised based on having more cash to buy it . You can't pick annuity if you buy QP. Most winners are QP player thats why you don't see annuity among winning tickets. Personally, I always pick annuity when I buy Texas lotto. I want to win for a peaceful life for the rest of my life, not to hassle with money managers. Winners will get more than 2 million per year for next 30 years and is enough for a good life for anyone.

I'm sure this has probably been discussed in some thread but I have always wondered if instead of choosing to take the cash option jackpot you and a financial advisor team could opt to claim the annuity and then sell the annuity to some financial/investment group or company. I'm sure it would be for less than the total payout of the annuity but it could be considerably more than the cash option. Has anyone ever heard of this being done?
