A state lottery could help Alabama get its financial house in order
Fifty years ago, lotteries were illegal in every state, but they have proven so lucrative and politically irresistible that 44 states have since started selling tickets to the lottery. In 2013, state-run lotteries brought in $62 billion, which amounts to $257 in sales to every adult in the nation.
Six stubborn holdouts remain. Alaska and Hawaii are isolated enough that they do not feel pressured by sales from their neighbors. Nevada and Mississippi have gambling lobbies that don't want a stat

Pennsylvania: 7/1 - 7/31/2013
I think a very good example is May/June 2007. The 1 ball was out 19 nights and the 8 was out 33 nights; the interesting thing is that the two events OVERLAPPED each other. On the 33rd night without an 8........................the result was 333........................it seems to me that it happened by more than just luck or a random drawing. Also take a look at the repeat several times of the 357 combo including 2 nights in a row. The 35 pair sure came in alot during that time frame! And it culm

DC lottery contract is the subject of a federal probe with numerous officials under scrutiny
A federal grand jury is investigating the awarding of the $38 million contract to run the District of Columbia lottery, a process that raises further questions about corruption in a city government already beleaguered by criminal prosecutions.
Although no one has yet been charged in the lottery probe, authorities are looking for evidence of crimes including bribery and illegal steering of contracts, and numerous officials are under scrutiny, according to several people familiar with the probe

Court filings outline steering of D.C. lottery deal
In recorded conversation, official suggests ousting winner of bidding
Documents filed in federal court Thursday portray in vivid detail the efforts of a number of D.C. officials, including then-Council Chairman Vincent C. Gray and Chief Financial Officer Natwar M. Gandhi, to manipulate the outcome of the competitively bid, multimillion-dollar D.C. Lottery contract.
The documents, supported by transcripts of tape-recorded conversations, were filed in response to efforts by the city to resis

New Hampshire Lottery celebrates 45th anniversary
Trailblazing N.H. had first-in-nation lottery
A tragic mistake. A scandalous experiment in state financing. The shame of New Hampshire.
Opponents of expanded gambling argue that it would hurt the state's image and cause more problems than it would solve. But the quotes above aren't from the current legislative debate; they're from newspaper editorials written in 1964, when New Hampshire launched the nation's first legal state-run lottery.
As the state considers allowing video slot mac

Todd I understand what you are saying but this particular chat or discusion is simply about wheather the lottery is monitoring this site CORRECT!
When you start talking about MONITORING a forum you must know above all people that a topic as this one would eventually have some things mentioned about the corruption of the lottery in it.
If this was a topic called what was your best day or happiest moment winning the lottery . My whole additude would be different. I might very well be

Illinois Is Putting Lottery on Block for Quick Payoff
The state of Illinois yesterday took the first steps in selling its state lottery system, hoping to attract as much as $10 billion from investors who, in return, would own a monopoly that could turn out to be the biggest jackpot yet.
The sale, which may occur as early as the spring, would not be the first privatization of public property - both Chicago and Indiana have recently earned billions of dollars by signing long-term leases with private companies to run toll roads. But the proposed l

online poll....will H.R. 411 become law?
Three bills aiming to "prohibit" Internet gambling are now winding their way through Congress.
Internet gambling is already prohibited, at least in most forms. The companies that operate casino, sports betting, and poker websites are all based offshore, and most of their executives risk arrest if they ever step foot on American soil.
But web-based gambling is still a $12 billion industry. And so just as has happened every other time our government has attempted to ban vice (see illicit dr
