Breaking Vegas!!
How about we invest in a bankroll full of money and play against Vegas Casinos. When they put the countermeasure into play... we can sue them for hundreds of millions of dollars for cheating? If the casinos can win money from people but the people cannot get their money back, isn't that considered cheating? They will do whatever they can to prdvent people from winning huge sum of cash. Who will prdvent them from cheating?

Question
I believe that Maxim did put out a joke article about cheating at state lotteries. That may be what you were thinking about. Try the April 1 issue.

Benford's Law
For the heck of it, I did a backcheck on IN and WI Pick 3, using all drawings that have been picked since the games started. (using Versabet34 software) All ten digits came out in the first position between 9.5% and 10.5% which is what you would think for a random game. Benford's Law didn't apply, so it appears that at least those two states aren't cheating.

Benford's Law
Interesting. I'd never heard of Benford's law. If lottery numbers followed it two conclusions could be drawn:1) The lottery operator is cheating.2) The draw machine just wasn't designed well enough (the standard statistical tests for randomness would also indicate this).

Breaking Vegas!!
While I won't go into any casino with card games, slot machine only establishments, thats another story. For the past three years I've been successful with the slots. At times, security has followed me around the playing floor like a little lost puppy dog. I've even been followed into the restrooms. They can high brow me all they want. I'm not cheating and unlike blackjack card counters legally they can't throw me out and I love it!Chas

Breaking Vegas!!
I don't believe the TV program was based on a book. There are lots of books around on card counting. The MIT team on the show won a little over $888,000. After the first team disbanded the Russian member setup a second team who took the casinos for a few million dollars. They mentioned there is now a third team in training.Card counting is not cheating, but the casinos will throw your butt out and place your name on a international blacklist, if caught doing it.When they forced the team players

One way or another
time*treat I think you are contradicting yourself You said Let's suppose only 1 person in all the UK bought a ticket for the drawing and matched 3 numbers. The budget for the 3rd prize pool is over 13mill, but the single winner is still only going to get paid 10. (Would you call that cheating?) The remaining 13,888,878 gets carried over to the next drawing along with all the money in the other tiers. That creates a cushion for when many people win, which will happen with much less frequenc

Does Mathematical Innumeracy foster superstitions and support the belief in them?
truecritic No, straight lp editor. I don't make any adjustments to the standard settings and what you see is just as it is typed. I don't use spell check for a reason. While I do have special software the uses algrorithms to score my writting I only use them when practicing. Spell check is like cheating and I would only be cheating myself. Josephus, I believe would score at least 3 full points higher if he was trying as I have found that most people in casual writting fall off b

21 Combinations
Lottoshlep You seem to rememebring well by defending GTECH ....so is that story true or not? If not, then why the replaced the chair? I don't really think your suggestion is correct because Lottery Commission forced Camelot to purchase the software from GTECH and of course this cannot be over few hundred pounds? You should remember this, in gambling there is no trust and if there is gambling then there is a way of cheating! Every lottery operator cheats in different ways and means! Mose

How do I prove my state lottery's CGNs are fixed?
I've followed this discussing since it began back in December and never though the object was to prove the Wisconsin lottery is cheating. That would be more like knowing which batch of scratch-off tickets had the jackpot winner, placing those tickets in an area or in a specific store, or not offering them for sale until they made their expected profit. It's possible they could scan the played combinations in pick-5 or lotto games and program the RNG to exclude them or only include the combinatio
