Virginia Lottery retailers refuse to sell tickets to draw attention to skill games amendment
So gambling with the lottery is OK, but gambling with a skill game is not? Many times I have seen people scratch games at the counter, buy more, scratch more, buy more, etc. I don't see any distinction between that and pressing buttons on a screen repeatedly. Seeing a distinction between those two things is where I think it turns from a logical debate into a debate on personal choices and of opinion. That's where I draw the line. I don't like arbitrarily preventing people from making choices in

Congratulations are for people that actually accomplish something through hard work or diligence. Gambling does not qualify for that.

Add that to my long list of why I have no interest in casinos. I do not want to see sad people gambling their life away vs playing for fun and entertainment. Casinos are not close and convenient for most people. People with gambling issues are being enticed daily with a poor economy and inflation. I think it was meant to be protective of the general public. I am not a big brother fan but people seem to get easily addicted to those machines. The store owner can still sell lottery tickets. I

No disagreement from me that the government needs to regulate all forms of gambling in the state. 35% seems monumentally excessive however. That's a case of trying to protect the lottery, rather than a logical fee. So I agree on the regulation, but I think the fee should be smaller. (Incidentally I think they take too large of a cut on the lottery too, so you can see where my mind is at on these things.)

Australian lottery winner sues daughter
I agree. I bet the husband has failed businesses or a gambling problem or even drug issues. I think the father probably had a good reason and was perhaps trying to protect his daughter. Some people should not be given large amounts of money since it could destroy them.

One vote made the difference in the Alabama legislative session, resulting in voters just barely missing out on seeing a lottery question on the ballot this year. The last time Alabama residents saw a lottery proposal in the voting booth was in

Nebraska single father's salad run results in $1 million Mega Millions lottery win
You are a member of a gambling site and sound a little jealous. I rarely play pb or mm or any lottery. So a lot of us just play when the mood strikes. I cannot fathom staying up to see any lottery drawing and only did it once. Some people have lives and being in every drawing is a waste of time and money. So yes, some people have different priorities and some people are destined to win and others are not.

Australian lottery winner sues daughter
Gotta wonder what the deal is with Jim and why the old man hates him so much. Gambling addict? Bunch of failed business schemes and bankruptcies? Twelve baby mamas like Nick Cannon? Or maybe it's good old fashioned bigotry due to Jim being a different race or religion. Big piece of the story missing. The irony is that the more the old man tries to cut down Jim, the harder Sue will cling to him.
