A think tank called the Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) submitted Freedom of Information Act requests to all 50 U.S. states for data on lottery winners collecting food stamps since 2019 and found

$1.725 BILLION: Powerball jackpot now 2nd-largest of all time
I looked into this number combination once. Approximately 10k people play these numbers for every draw. It would actually be hilarious to see the jackpot split that many ways with each winner only receiving $70k or so before taxes.

Arkansas woman almost gifts winning lottery ticket to ex-father-in-law
Yes, that 75K will be reduced to around 51K after taxes. It does seem like she is gloating about the fact that she put one over on her ex father in law. But why would she have been sending him tickets in the first place if they had issues over her failed marriage. Something is amiss here. Once again, she should not have brought this fact up no matter what the relationship was.

40% to taxes? Sounds like they took extra. Should get at least another 10,000 back in tax return. Unless that took them from total income less than $200,000 to well over 200,000??
