All Virginia lottery winners can now remain anonymous
Thought they already had an anonymous rule.

Indiana LLC claims share of $143 million Powerball lottery jackpot
Well luck for the anonymous female winner. I am not sure why the Indiana Lottery felt the need to include male or female along side anonymous but it definitely doesn't feel so anonymous being singled out as 1 biological sex versus not including any information at all.
I live in a city with almost a million people if I bought anything no one would notice but in a town of 20,000 plus people going to notice you in a brand new used car and clothes, quit your job unless you purposely get fired.

Latest bill amendment removes $1 million threshold
By Kate Northrop
Under a new state law, all Virginia lottery winners can now remain anonymous, regardless of the prize amount.
Virginia legislators passed an amendment that removes the prize threshold for anonymous claims and allows all winners to withhold their identity from the public.
As of July 1, only lottery winners of $1 million or more could withhold permission for the Virginia Lottery to publish their name and hometown i

Michigan man mistakenly purchases two lottery tickets, wins two $110,000 Fantasy 5 prizes
You can claim anonymous for state games in Michigan and he didn't do that. To each their own I guess.......

Indiana LLC claims share of $143 million Powerball lottery jackpot
Just about every press release issued by a lottery includes the gender of the anonymous winner. This is nothing new, and seems more of a personal grievance on your end. Most people think what is written is normal.

is it possible to claim a jackpot without even the lottery knowing your identity?
on another thread a poster said something that sounded like he believes he can send a lawyer to claim a jackpot for him without even the lottery finding out who he is. this poster seems to live in a state that allows winners to remain anonymous from the public, but i don't think a jackpot winner can hide their identity from the the lottery.
i could be wrong though. what do you think?

I am getting harassed by family over a $5,000 lottery win. :(
I would have sent her $500 in a check form as an anonymous donor
That's just a bit problematic if the $500 was supposed to be a loan and not a gift. If that or any gift revealing who you are isn't a problem you can just mail modest amounts in the form of a postal money order (in that US, at least; I don't know about other countries' options). If you win enough you can also hire a lawyer to handle the donation. That can also be a good idea for charitable donations, so the charity can't keep

How is the gender of the person driving a new car going to matter? Once you ignore the people under 18 about half of the people will be married, mostly to somebody of the opposite gender

Charity in a person is a great character
knowledge on how to be charitable is wise
had I been in your position
I would have sent her $500 in a check form as an anonymous donor
with a note, handwritten by someone else in the event she could read handwriting and can tell who the person is
in the note I would have expressed the $500 is to help and not to be spent for parties or drinking
like I said charity is a good character to have
