Ticket Checkers
Welcome to the LP martinfan763. With there being so many dishonest clerks out there it's best to scan your ticket yourself, however I do both I use the self scanner then I have the clerk scan the ticket as well, just make sure you sign your ticket before you hand it over to the clerk to check.

Dateline NBC, Sunday May 3, Lottery clerks Who Cheat Players
I expect it will be as much warning as sending somebody to jail for any other crime. A few dishonest clerks will think they can get away with it, and odds are they'll be right.

Sting nabs Minnesota lottery clerks stealing winning tickets
That's fine for tickets that can't be cashed at a store, but doesn't mean much if a clerk wants to give you $50 and then take the rest for a ticket that's worth a few hundred bucks. I expect that thenlottery deliberately uses tickets with big prizes so that the dishonest clerks can be charged with a felony, but if they don't also use smaller tickets means that somebody with a smaller ticket isn't part of a sting operation.

Undercover Kentucky Lottery investigation snares three store employees trying to steal prizes
IMO, the problem with this testing program is wrongly assuming all stores with lottery terminals educate their clerks on proper ticket cashing procedures This operation is correctly designed to only bust dishonest clerks because the clerks' intention to defraud was evidenced by them taking the tickets to the claim center to redeem for themselves. An honest but dumb clerk who didn't understand how to use the scanner or know jack about cashing procedures wouldn't go that far, and so they wouldn

Study: N.C. Lottery scammers have cheated state out of $7 million
The clerks know which of their regular players hit the most often. After the customer leaves, they just need to pull up a printout and play the same numbers themselves. Are there dishonest clerks that rip people off? Yep. But that happens to the players who hand their tickets to the clerk and say, Can you check this for me . If they would check the tickets themselves, that would end.

N.C. store owner accused of stealing winning lottery ticket
I also think the same thing about the people who drop $20 or $50 for a single raffle ticket only to never claim the $1,000 prize their ticket won....I see such listings in Illinois many months after the raffle. Why waste $20 when you don't even bother to go pickup your $1,000 prize? Heck, even if a person owes back taxes or child support, even in excess of $1,000, at least that is about $750 less that they will end up paying from their wages. But to the main point I noted from this story...

Store clerk accused of stealing $1M lottery ticket from customer
You would be surprised how many people don't check their tickets; I've had people ask me what the MM numbers were on a date two months ago. Another problem is people watch the drawings and write down the numbers as they are drawn and believe their numbers must be in the same order. We wonder how they can do that but they don't play very often and there are games where the numbers must be in the exact order. Some people buy MM and PB tickets without knowing there are secondary prizes and/or th

Florida Lottery terminates contracts of three retailers
Good job. Start weeding them out, and letting others know that somebody might be watching them. I said it before and I will say it again, those 4king dishonest clerks, are gonna end up making everybody else in that line of work look like crap.
