Have you ever or even someone you know let a winning ticket get out of your hands and into a dishonest clerks? I honestly can say I never have...and I Always always always check my own tickets first...online, with my phone app....even before my internet was up and running I would call the state lottery line and check my numbers....scratch-offs are harder you just got to know how to read it and be sure before you hand it over to a clerk....Here's a tip...if they say its a losing ticket tell them

Would you check your numbers before you let a store clerk check for you
Yeah, I've used those scanners in Illinois and Kentucky before (half the time they didn't work, lol) but what I would like to see is a machine that also gives you a voucher for your winnings so there's absolutely no doubt about proving what you've won or any opportunity for malicious clerks to rip anybody off. The machine could give you the voucher and a copy for your records. As it stands now, intelligent people can circumvent being ripped off but there are always some people who will fall p

What VALIDATE TICKET means?
There might be places where they have self-serve lottery terminals where you can buy your lottery tickets at and also where later you can check them for winning numbers all by yourself, before you go to the clerk to cash them, it is much better to do it in this way, if you can. If you win a lot of money it would not hurt to also make a copy of the ticket before you go to cash it, just in case as you never know, there might be some dishonest clerks out there.

Florida Fantasy 5 EZMATCH Stinks !!
One other thing to look out for in "instant" on-line games like this are dishonest clerks. Since each ez-match ticket is printed individually, a clerk can take a quick look at the "matching" numbers and see if it is an ez-match winner. If a ticket or tickets are winner(s) then the clerk can simply punch up another quick pick or if it is a larger winner ($5 or more), re-run the customer play slip to make it look legit, keeping the set of tickets with the ez-match winner and giving the customer th

Georgia to sell tickets online
Another thing people are forgetting in this debate is how will the GA Lottery get you your ticket? It is currently against USPS regulations to allow the mailing of lottery tickets across state lines. This restricts states like VA, which offer a subscription play by mail option for their jackpot games, to only allowing those with in-state mailing addresses to play. I know that MA gets around this by sending out their tickets via UPS, which completely avoids the USPS problem. The only other optio

Florida lottery kicks off campaign to protect customers from dishonest clerks
Players reminded to sign tickets immediately The Florida Lottery has launched a new campaign after some store owners were claiming big prizes time and time again despite the small odds. The lottery has posted videos online and will soon display posters at retail locations urging players to sign their tickets. They hope this will help prevent store employees from stealing their winning tickets. When it comes to winning scratch-off lottery games, people who own or work at convenience s

Has a Lottery Clerk Ever Attempted to Rip You Off?
Overall people are more honest than dishonest. That's what we'd all like to believe but maybe that particular job attracts more of a certain kind of personality than some other job might. I'd be interested to know what you experienced with the dishonest clerks you ran into.

N.C. lottery store owners, employees winning big and often
I hope the sting operations are forthcoming. I won't hold my breath because it will probably not happen. Tom Sheehan don't want to spend the money to do it. Of course he would say anything can happen. It cost money for these stings. Dishonest clerks are the main reason I don't buy scratch off tickets, always sign all my winners and never depend on anyone to check for me what hit. At least this is a start, sometimes things have to be brought forth over and over before something will be don

Atlantic Lottery retailers win 10 times more often than customers
We don't have self-check machines here yet, but hope it happens soon. I know there are dishonest clerks out there. Several years ago my state had a promo where if you bought $5 on lotto you could instantly win prizes. When I bought mine, I heard the music that's usually played when they scan a winning ticket, and the clerk looked at it then just brought me my ticket. I said wasn't that a winner? and she said no. There was a line behind me, so I just took her word for it, but in retrospe
