Two tickets will share $174M Powerball lottery jackpot
Recently, I went to the Powerball site and looked up how many jackpots had been won between Indiana and Pennsylvania since PA joined in 2001. Before the latest jackpot win, Indiana was leading 11 to 10. I thought this was very interesting since PA has always had at least twice as many overall prize winners each draw than Indiana. In the Sat. 2-28-09 draw, PA had 200,000+ overall winners to Indiana's 46,000+. My basic theory has been that more often than not, the jackpot winner will come from an

Kentucky Lottery raffle drawing date set
Indiana will be the next state to fall victim to the raffle blues. People are catching on that on a dollar per dollar basis these games are not that good. Indiana has only sold 33k in 15 days, at this rate only 100k tickets will be sold. I am sure this one will get pushed back too.

N.C. resident speaks out against computerized lottery drawings
JS9:That's not true. Quick Picks are generated by the lottery machine where you buy the tickets, and the Indiana lottery drawing results are generated by a couple of PCs in a room in lottery HQ. I'm not saying that computerized drawings are any good (they're not), but I just want to be clear that Quick Picks are generated in a different place. However, from what I understand, the RNG employed by the Indiana lottery drawing PCs is pretty simple, so it is probably fairly similar to the RNGs used

Hoosier Lottery insists computers are better than ball drawings
Since balls are harder to tamper with and predict the outcome of any such tampering I doubt Indiana will move in that direction. State lotteries just don't want things like integrity or trust anymore. After all if Indiana can't tamper with the results why would they want it?

Lottery officials forsee $500 million Mega Millions jackpots
I have a question for the more knowledgeable lottery players than I.Occasionally I will slip into Indiana to play power ball. My question is if I was ever so lucky to hit a taxable prize would I be required to pay Indiana taxes as well as my own states?I do see that Arizona has a non resident tax of 6% but nothing is said of the other states? I find that the lure of the power play is strong enough for me to try my luck---- a 100k with a power play would be a good prize

Indiana legislator attacks computerized lottery drawings
In a move hailed by opponents of computerized lottery drawings, Indiana State Representative Robert Alderman (R) introduced a bill last month that would force the Hoosier Lottery to revert back to traditional lottery ball machines. The bill, which would take effect on July 1, 2005, requires the Indiana State Lottery Commission to use numbered balls and machines to conduct lottery drawings. If passed, the bill would also voids a conflicting administrative rule which allows the Hoosier Lottery to

Hoosier Lottery often pulls plug on high-dollar scratch-off games before all prizes can be won
Brittany Mowell and her husband purchase Hoosier Lottery scratch-off tickets a couple of times a week in hopes they'll win big. The Indianapolis woman said she felt cheated out of that dream once she learned the lottery was pulling certain high-dollar scratch-off games off the market before all the big-money prizes could be won and paid out. It felt so unfair she questioned whether such a move was legal. That really ticks me off, Mowell said, and I feel ripped off. Not only is the
