Nevada panel passes lottery proposal
Over the opposition of two major gaming corporations, an Assembly committee voted 8-5 Thursday to let voters decide whether to legalize a state lottery. All Democrats on the Assembly Constitutional Amendments Committee backed Assembly Joint Resolution 5, while all five Republicans opposed it. Passage of the resolution in the committee is the first step in a long process before Nevada would join 42 other states in having a state lottery. The measure needs approval by both houses of the Legi

Is it game over for the Texas Lottery?
Some Texas lawmakers say it may be time to scratch out the lottery. More than two decades after Texas voters legalized the game of chance in the state, a group of lawmakers will soon start reviewing whether to end at multibillion-dollar industry that pumps more than $1 billion a year into schools. Critics say they fear that the game financially hurts some of the most vulnerable Texans and doesn't do enough to help the state. Supporters disagree and question where $1 billion a year can be f

New Michigan lottery player wins $500,000 on his first-ever ticket
Story seems a little far fetched to me. 21 year old needs instructions on how to play a scratch ticket and takes it home to mommy and daddy so they can walk him through it. Then at age 21 which he should be in his 3rd year of college here all of a sudden decides he wants to study overseas. Had he applied to or thought of this previously. Yet, he is not smart enough to figure out how to play a scratch ticket. I am scratching my head over this one.

$1.35 billion Mega Millions lottery winner suing mother of his child for revealing win to family
Everyone's influenced by Arnold, Maria, and Rose . They are part of American history. Thousands of Americans also study serial killers. That's why there's many books about them and crime shows on TV. The last 2 sentences weren't directed to you personally but to anyone ignorant enough not to realize that fact, you see.

Editorial: Study of lottery winners still receiving food stamps is flawed but raises good points
Especially when it is a one-time lottery prize! That's one of the points Kate was making in the editorial. The study made some bad assumptions, but is probably still valid for giant lottery prizes that are the equivalent of multiple years of income to the winner.

$1.9 BILLION POWERBALL JACKPOT SETS WORLD RECORD OF UNIMAGINABLE WEALTH
I played 6 LP quick picks on Powerball over the weekend and 1 matched the Powerball, 1 matched 2 numbers, and another matched 1. I'm doing a little study on LP vs Terminal quick picks for Powerball and hope to have the results soon.

Alabama governor reestablishes study group for lottery
didn't see any mention of the casinos there on Sovereign lands. Earlier discussions they don't want casinos in Alabama. Sorry for my opinion that their lobbyists aren't like those in Nevada who has a Constitutional amendment prohibiting lotteries in Nevada! How about just put it on the November ballot? Another year/monies wasted on a feeble study concluding this coming December.

Despite predictions, state lottery ticket sales have not been hurt by casinos
For years, Rajesh Keshar heard the concerns of his fellow owners of corner stores in Everett, Massachusetts, about what the Encore Boston Harbor casino might do to their lottery sales. They worried that some customers would shift their spending from scratch tickets and numbers games to slot machines and gaming tables. Everybody was talking bad about it, said Keshar, who runs Elm Street Market, about 2.5 miles from the massive casino, which opened in June. I was thinking positive. Because I k

Massachusetts legislators looking into fairness of lottery fund distribution
The liberal Democratic bastion of Massachusetts is upset over the income redistribution program ? How can this be ? After all you voted for this puppy and its creation. It was your job to maintain it properly. This is what liberal redistribution is all about. The Cash Cow never running dry, getting your fair share , right ? Look at the Representatives complaining. What letter do they all share in common? Looks like a D to me. Now you want to study the distribution of general aid in Mass, includi

Massachusetts legislators looking into fairness of lottery fund distribution
Massachusetts residents have been playing the lottery for nearly 50 years, enjoying both the risk and the benefits their towns and cities see. But some legislators are worried certain communities are getting more out of the game than others. Every year, about 20% of the revenue the state lottery rakes in is distributed to the 351 towns and cities, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery's website. In 2018, the lottery returned $997 million to the state, which was the second-highest total
