Lottery winner describes his "freak-out" moment
Includes video report
Last Saturday evening, Jacob Christopherson of Meridian, Idaho, had a self-described freak-out moment but in a good way. That's when Christopherson began checking his Idaho $1,000,000 Raffle tickets for winners. And he could not believe what he was seeing.
I had been buying tickets around the 25,000th tickets, trying to win one of the $1,000 prizes. I stopped in the Maverik by my mom's house and just bought one to see what the current ticket number was, Christopherso

Largest-ever UK Lotto jackpot has players... angry?
By Todd Northrop
In the United States, a record jackpot is cause for celebration and waves of ticket-buying, but in the United Kingdom players are bemoaning tomorrow night's record 42.2 million (US$62.62 million) Lotto jackpot and threatening to boycott the game, according to local media reports.
Apparently having a jackpot won frequently is more important to Brits than the size of the pot.
Tomorrow's record 42.2 million jackpot is the result of a record 10th rollover. The reason for th

Illinois Lottery sales lowest in two years
Our winners will be paid, Illinois Lottery Superintendent B.R. Lane said. After nearly three months of withholding payments due to the state budget impasse, the Illinois Lottery said it's not if winners will get their cash -- but when.
The Illinois Lottery saw a significant drop in ticket sales from September to October, which coincides with the state budget stalemate.
Because they're not sure when they'll be paid, our players are buying fewer tickets. It's really that simple, Lane said.

By Todd Northrop
The United Kingdom National Lottery is putting out an urgent call for players to re-check their Lotto tickets from the Oct. 10 drawing because the Lottery published the wrong numbers on their website.
To promote the re-launching of the revamped Lotto game on Oct. 10, the UK National Lottery held an expanded raffle drawing that awarded 25 prizes of 1,000,000 (US$1.5 million). During a normal drawing the lottery would award just one prize of 1,000,000.

ILLINOIS LOTTERY MOVES TO COMPUTERIZED DRAWINGS
By Todd Northrop
If the Illinois Lottery issued stocks, now would be the time to sell.
Despite widespread player sentiment that is strongly against computerized drawings, the Illinois Lottery stated Friday that it is dropping real lottery ball drawings, and moving to the despised computerized draws.
Computerized drawings are conducted by having a computer system that picks the winning numbers using a Random Number Generator, or RNG . Players generally dislike the fact that it is imposs

Officials with the Minnesota State Lottery said Wednesday they are changing their policy on information for winning lottery tickets after as many as six major prizes this year have gone unclaimed.
Lottery officials said, effective immediately, they will disclose the name, address and city of the business where a winning lottery ticket is sold. In the past, the lottery has only released the county in which the ticket was sold.
The new policy applies to six unclaimed prizes that amount to a

Florida Supreme Court orders new trial in $1M lottery dispute
Howard Browning is a guy who does not give up.
In 2008, he sued his live-in sweetheart, a Seminole County schoolteacher, after she refused to give him half of the $1 million lottery jackpot she won.
They had a deal, he insisted, although it was unwritten: If he won the lottery, he'd give her half and if she won, she'd give him half.
A judge in Sanford threw out his case in 2012 after a jury had begun to hear evidence, and an appeals court later agreed. But on Thursday, the Florida Supre
