Temporary Calif. Lottery Director Appointed
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Thursday promoted the general counsel of the California Lottery to acting director.Melissa Meith, 53, a Democrat, will replace Chon Gutierrez, who retired last month. Gutierrez had served as acting director since December 2004.The governor's office is conducting a national search for a new director of the lottery, which reached sales of more than $3.3 billion this year, its highest ever. Meith's position pays $125,280 a year.
