7 years later, real winner awarded $5M lottery jackpot
Nearly seven years after a winning $5 million scratch-off lottery ticket was snatched from his hands, Robert Miles of Syracuse, New York, will finally get his money.
Lottery officials contacted the district attorney's office with the news today, according to Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick. A source in the state lottery office confirmed that the ticket has been verified and the money will be issued to Mr. Miles in the very near future.

A Glen Head, New York, convenience store clerk stole about $64,000 in scratch-off lottery tickets from the business over a three-month period, Nassau County police said Tuesday.

One brother convicted, one acquitted in $5M lottery trial
In a closely-watched trial in Syracuse, New York, a judge convicted one brother accused of stealing a winning $5 million lottery ticket from a convenience store customer but threw out conspiracy charges against his brother.
