Virginia Lottery adds Sunday drawings
In an effort to ward off losses to North Carolina, the Virginia Lottery is adding Sunday drawings, starting this weekend.
Competition south of the border will cut into Virginia Lottery profits this year, but new games could limit the losses to North Carolina.

Virginia: How the lottery has helped with your child's education
School days in Virginia most likely begin in a school improved by the Virginia Lottery.
When the lottery began in 1989, the profits went into the general fund.
That changed in 2000 when voters decided by constitutional law that all lottery profits must go to public schools K-12 education.

Virginia Border Stores Take Hit From N.C. Lottery
Now that North Carolina has a lottery, residents with hopes of striking it rich don't have to head north to Virginia to buy tickets, and retail stores just across the line are feeling the effects.
Virginia lottery director Sheila Hill-Christian said the overall decline of 8 to 10 percent was expected. But she said her state's lottery will make changes in games and install state-of-the-art technology that should enable it to make up the loss within two years.

New Virginia Lottery director appointed
Virginia Governor Timothy M. Kaine on Wednesday appointed a veteran Richmond city agency chief to head the Virginia Lottery.
Sheila Hill-Christian will take over the state agency that grossed sales of $1.3 billion in fiscal 2005 and yielded a record $423 million for state public schools.
She succeeds Donna VanCleave, who became the Lottery's interim director in June after Penelope Kyle, the agency director since 1994, was appointed president of Radford University.

Virginia Lottery looking for Lotto South winner
The Virginia Lottery has reported a winner in its Lotto South jackpot game. The winning $4 million ticket, which was sold near the North Carolina border, has yet to be claimed. Could someone have the winning ticket and not know it?

Three states replacing Lotto South game
Like a tired mule whose best days are behind him, Lotto South is being retired and a fresh workhorse brought in to pick up the production.The three-state lottery game, which began in September 2001, will be replaced next month by a new game that pays winners $1,000 a week for the rest of their lives, Virginia Lottery interim executive director Donna M.
