In South Dakota you can now smoke and play video lottery
South Dakota video lottery terminals can be placed in vented smoke shacks that some bar owners have built onto their establishments, according to several state administration officials.
An administrative policy now being followed by the South Dakota Lottery allows smoking at a video lottery establishment if it occurs in a non-enclosed area.
South Dakota voters ratified a state law in 2010 that banned smoking in public places, including bars, restaurants and gambling establishments.

Lottery rigging scandal prompts security audit in South Dakota
The scandal unfolding in Iowa, where software allowed some results to be rigged in multi-state lotto drawings, has added to concerns among South Dakota Lottery officials, spurring them to proceed Thursday in requesting proposals for a security review of South Dakota Lottery facilities.
The review also would cover the statewide video-lottery system and the statewide lotto jackpot system.

A prominent Jamaican disc jockey charged for his role in a lottery scam targeting older people in the Dakotas and elsewhere is scheduled to plead guilty.

Come this fall, winning the multi-state Mega Millions lottery jackpot will become even more difficult in the 45 states and jurisdictions that offer the lotto game.

Error caused S.D. Lottery to suspend Wild Card validations
The South Dakota Lottery temporarily halted validations for Wild Card 2 lotto tickets for the June 9 drawing to correct an error with the winning numbers.
An incorrect Wild Card was inadvertently entered into the system after the draw. The winning numbers for that drawing were 4, 5, 9, 15 and 21 and the Wild Card King of Diamonds. The Wild Card was initially incorrectly entered as the Jack of Diamonds.

Mega Millions goes on sale in South Dakota May 16
South Dakota Lottery officials are adding Mega Millions to the state's lineup of lotto games, beginning May 16.
The first Mega Millions drawing in which South Dakota will participate is Tuesday, May 18.

The mystery Powerball winner will soon be identified.
The South Dakota Lottery plans a ceremony Friday afternoon in Pierre to introduce the winner of last week's $232.1 million jackpot.
The winning ticket from the May 27 drawing was purchased in the town of Winner, which has two Powerball lottery outlets.
It's the ninth-largest Powerball jackpot ever won and the biggest ever paid out in South Dakota.
