The Pigskin Challenge: POWERBALL 3-9-'05

$10,000,000.00

1. The object of The Pigskin Challenge is to correctly identify all the  numbers to be drawn in the Powerball game.

2. No more than ten number selections may be used to predict the numbers from the 5/53 matrix.

3. Due to its popularity, prediction of the red PowerBall number from the 1/42 matrix is now officially a part of The Pigskin Challenge. No more than three number selections may be used to predict the red PowerBall.

For those who dare, you can specify one number from your picks in each matrix as most likely to hit . Just be sure to make it perfectly clear which one number you are selecting as most likely to hit in each matrix. There's no penalty if you don't specify any most likely numbers. It's just an attempt to get a little better read on how well our systems are working as opposed to having our numbers come up by pure chance.

This is all done with an eye toward helping us improve the accuracy and consistency of our prediction skills. Hopefully, it will also help us find a way to crack this PowerBall game.

The 'skindex rating system will be applied to all entries for purposes of evaluation and comparision of our efforts. The maximum possible score is 100 points.

Good luck to all Challengers,

aye'

Just returned from getting my PB numbers.

What a shocking trip this one has been.  My initial pool of numbers was 38 numbers.

My qualifying (based on number performance) method left me with only 8 numbers.  First I was shocked at the few numbers.  Then, as I thought on it on how and why, I could no decide on anything.  How could this happen, and how do I play only 8 numbers.  To Play or Not To Play.

Finally I remembered Todd's wheels.  I decided to go with his Abbreviated 3 if 3 of 8.  I am posting the numbers and selected PBs, and I hope I am not abusing any principle or violating any rules of the Challenge.  Is it possible that in this process one could find a 'single', or a 'double', or a 'triple', or even a 'homer' - to use a little baseball slang?

                5. 03-08-21-25-40 + 31

                6. 16-21-22-25-52 + 21

                8. 16-21-22-40-52 + 20

Heres hoping and good luck to everyone!!!!!

                    urug2000,

The last 16 drawings covered 38 numbers.  I checked the last 200 drawings and in 62 of those drawings all 5 winning numbers had hit in the previous 16 drawings.  I hope you don't regret reducing your pool to just 8 after the drawing.  Good luck to you.

We managed to catch all the numbers this time.

Big congrats to Litebets27 for getting the red PowerBall number right.

aye' caught two numbers (17 and 23), but got no cash.

RJOh was the only challenger to call the 10 ball.

getpaid was the only one who saw that 20 coming.

hypersoniq caught the 45 using only nine number selections.

MADDOG10 was the only other predictor to identify the 45.

urug2000 was disqualified for using too many numbers to predict the red PowerBall.

pigskin and urug2000 are the only contenders for MADDOG's Moonie Award.  And the winner is....

                        Thanks to all Challengers,

                          MADDOG:

Please don't be so MAD.  I suppose I don't read too good in the daytime because I went to night school.

And, when you post my reward "MOONER", please remember to put the number 31 ON each side of it.

Have no worry, there will be no further intrusions.

                            RJOH:

Thank you so much for the statistical info.  It further validates the performance values I am now using to qualify my final number selections.  I have used those figures going back to January 2004, but it produced too many "final" numbers for my budget.

I went back and identified my pool numbers according to your info.  It increased the final number of 8 to 13 numbers, AND, it produced three (3) numbers to go with the Power Ball # 31!!!!!!!!!!

This just might be the "answer" I have been serarching for.  I will work this info into my final selections for both M-M and PB for Friday and Saturday drawings.

                            Stay tuned.
