You don't want to play NY Lotto (the lower prizes are terrible).

I wonder if the people who are suing will get anything out of it.

Not if the paper had a disclaimer in the rules about an error in the printed numbers.  Those scratch off games are designed to give the losing players the impression that they just missed winning by one number.  13 was never supposed to be among the winning numbers and that is the reason so many players had it on their tickets.   I suspect that some people may have picked papers out of the trash after hearing about the misprint to get in on the big give away.  The paper probably would go bankrupt rather then pay everyone what they think they won.

It's about as accurate as most of the news printed in the NY times and they don't get sued over it. If news outfits had to pay for every misquote, made up story, or inaccuracy they would all be bankrupt. Anyways most players would either check on the internet or at the ticket scanners at many stores that sell lottery tickets.

This was an independent lottery ran by this paper and a private company to promote their sales , the only place to get the results was in this paper.  They made a similar mistake some years back.

Oh. Sorry rjoh it's just my scanning of the story. I haven't really heard about private lotteries anywhere. I assumed that "their" was just for New York's lottery.
