i read a rumor that new york might be pulling out of mega millions....but wouldn't it be strange if they left mega millions and joined powerball....now that would be ironic....

    AAAGGGHHHH

Where did this rumor start...does anyone have any official, supporting documentation, other than posts here stating that NY might leave MM (I'm sure this will further the rumor).

Lottomike, it had me concerned too....this is what I've dug up.

The thread was started on April 12th by CO, no evidence provided, just a warning that NY Lotto would rule the roost if NY left MM.  Ryanm posted the link to megaplier.org, which had a three sentence blurb about NY Gambling Changes.  The report was from WTEN, ABC's Albany affiliate, and dealt with VLTs (Video Lottery Terminals) and casinos.  A seemingly out of place tack-on sentence questioned the future survival of NY MM.

That thread promptly ended on April 13, and I think this non-issue  should be put to bed.

NY better not ever leave Mega Millions.

That would be nice.  Powerball needs New York considering the changes they're making to the game!  There's no point in increasing the matrix if rollovers won't get larger.

In this unlikely scenario, I would suspect NY without a multi-state game for around a year. But would join Powerball reletively soon after realizing the drop in sales (which is inevitable when you drop a game of that magnitude without any replacement).

I think if the NY Lotto switched to a Powerball-style game, they would probably make it only one play for $1.

They tried that with the 6/51 version. It didn't go over well. New Yorkers like getting 2 for a buck.

I wish TN would get rid of the Powerball and get Mega Millions. I just want to be able to play both games and not have to drive far to play Mega Millions when the jackpot gets high.

I love doubles and remember, it's just a game!!!!!!

I kinda don't believe NY would, but the actual article-link was posted in here about 1 month ago by someone else or myself.

The only way NY pulls out of MM any time soon is if a court rules that the state lottery is illegal. And that's not gonna happen.
