Since I live about a half mile from the claim center I would make the journey with a single leap of joy.

does substituting your middle name or a nickname, such as Skip or Buster, in place of your first name work to partially disguise your identity, or do the authorities require that winners submit their full legal name to claim prizes?

Do a net-search of all combinations of your name, that is where the press will start. How much do your neighbors know about you? If your winnings are big enough, that is the second search. Next would be to find a family member with a motor-mouth.

I remember a guy in PA won the largest amount on their Match Six earlier, the article said there was a line over a mile long to his front door. Which is why I plan on leaving the state the same day I claim the prize. Assuing the prize is BIG, I'd be on a rent-a-jet vacation for the first year. If the prize is average, I be living in another state the next day. You can always borrow a cell phone from a friend in another state for immediate usage. FedEx would be great for getting it.

              Cheers

If you win an out of state lotto, you're probably in much better shape to maintain your anonymity.  The in-state news media has to report the lottery winners since the lottery is an advertising client.

I missed this thread when it was current.

I answered 'Spaceship', which is probably how I'd actually end up going there, but my preference would be to be riding a camel, or failing that, an Apalooooooooosa mule.

I will arrive by Limo! I will be way to nervous to drive myself. Don't wanna do anything stupid like swerve to avoid hitting a dear in the road, crash into a tree, and never make it there in the first place. So...limo it is!Bed

I choose a car anyway if the family should win the jackpot although gas prices are very high. The reason I would have to take a car because the nearest town to find a lottery office would be Sacramento. However, if I'm in Tracy and/or Concord, I could still get the claim form [if they have some] and send it to Sacramento by wasting a 37 cent stamp.

I choose by car, but I would probably fly out to Boise and then take a rental car to the lottery headquarters.

The good thing about living in small states is it wouldn't take long to drive to say, Hartford or Albany.
