The Multi-State lotteries are falling victim to the same economic dynamic that befalls any company.  Consider a restaurant, for example.  The business starts out doing well until it cuts portions, compromises quality and raises prices. Eventually the customers leave.

The lotteries depend on revenues to the point where increased spending by idiotic politicians pimping for votes forces them to increase revenues to the point where they have to fudge and swindle to keep participation up.  In the quest for bigger jackpots they make the games harder to win and players give up in frustration.

The lotteries need to accept limitations, know what is possible and be grateful for what they earn.  This little bit of Bhuddist philosophy will be lost on the greedy miscreants, though.  No one ever listens to reason.

If CT drops Powerball, I'll continue to play the games I play now including Powerball when it's $100M+.

            jag:

I purposely left out CT Classic Lotto because I wanted the survey to be for non-CT games. Classic Lotto would have been too obvious (the same can be said of Mega Millions).

If powerball gets dumped my mandibles will gnash and big tears will flow... well maybe that's a bit dramatic... let's just say Mega Mill in Mass will get a bit more of my disposable income.

They are offered in other states evidently.

IF CT drops Powerball, I think they should join MM and change the current matrix so odds of winning are still 1 in 40, but winning the MM jackpot will be 1 in 200 million. What do you think?

I don't think CT would hurt the jackpot growth too much, it could stay as it is even with CT. But they said they'd only let one more state in, and that was CA, so CT may need pitch together a few states and create a big game of their own (maybe with Florida and the Canadian provinces).
