PowerPlay is a great way to shift the overall payout potential to some of the highest in the nation. Look at this chart at the overall payouts for each multipiler.

  •
  • Base $1 play or 2x - 50%
  •
  • 3x - 58.665%
  •
  • 4x - 67.33%
  •
  • 5x - 75.995%
I may have said it was higher before, but did'nt know the actual payout percentages, nor did I factor in the extra dollar. Still, the chance at an almost 76% payout is well worth it in my book.

You are assuming only the winners are paying $2 or their tickets.  I would be surprised if when the extra amount paid by all powerplay players is compared to the extra amount paid to powerplay winners averaged more than 50% of the extra sales.  I doubt if states would offer powerplay if they got less than 50% of the extra sales.

     * you don't need to buy more tickets, just buy a winning ticket *

These are The Texas Lottery's numbers for their profit/loss on MegaPlier.  It seems they make out pretty good on this extra addition. (In Vegas it could be called a sucker bet) but it would be fun to multiply your winnings

Wow, a red means a loss of Texas profits Bradly_60? I wish that Texas brings in more profits than losses. I think the Texas MegaPlier helps them in the future although Vegas thinks is a sucker bet.

Yes red does mean that they paid out more than they recieved for the game.  But there is a lot more black than red.  They are definately making money off of this extra dollar bet.

On average, how often players play with the Powerplay option in PB? Who profits more players or retailers on average?

I'm talking in comparison to the standard $1 play, that you have the chance of increasing your comparitive payout.
