    I buy about 4 drawings @ 5.00 a pop equals 20.00 I have to drive about 40 miles to purchase my tix cross GA state coming from FL (Jax) it depends on the size of the Jackpot... min 60 million dollars I'll go and make the drive and hope and the Gas is twenty cents cheaper good deal.

    I looked on a website about the Florida Lottery's odds on a website (henrydavidmoran.blogspot.com):

    The odds of winning are astronomical. The odds of winning a six-number lottery are 22,957,480 to 1. How difficult is that? Imagine trying to pick the ace of spades out of a deck of cards. Then imagine picking the ace of spades out of 1,000 decks, where there is only one ace of spades. It would be hard enough picking the right deck. Lottery odds equate to picking the ace of spades out of 441,490 decks – where only one deck has an ace of spades.

    Not only that, but it is even harder to win the Mega Millions:

    The odds against you winning the MM are astronomically large (like 170 million to one);

    Now, I think that the lottery is great to play, so I don't agree with the henrydavidmoran.blogspot.com website on those "7 reasons why the lottery is a loser".  But the odds are odds, and the lottery is totally random.  So don't drive all that mileage and spend all that money on gas when you can play the lottery in your state.  It is hard enough as it is, and with gas being expensive these days, you might as well stick to the Florida drawings.  At least the odds against you aren't so high there.

    Smart lottery winners form trust to claim their winnings.  They send an attorney to the lottery headquarters to claim the prize in trust, so that ONLY the name of the trust is revealed.  And they tell NO ONE, especially relatives.

    If you ever win a lottery and you are single, the only person you should ever marry is someone who was truly in love with you BEFORE you won the jackpot!

        I have been waiting since 2002 for a game to finally break 300 million again. I can't believe it still hasn't happened.

          Depends. Since I study statistical data, I usually only buy tickets after atleast half the month has passed. The balls are changed in my lottery every month, so I have study the new statistical data. Sometimes balls get dents, scratches, etc.

            Your odds of winning are the same no matter how you spread out playing. Of course it's better to play more when the jackpot is high.

              Always buy atleast one. I would have no problem accepting the puny ten million jackpot.

              Cheers

                I would buy $1 every time for my dad, but mainly I should wait for the big jackpots if I ever play. In the big jackpots, I would buy more tickets for my dad when my dad wants to play.

                  Wouldn't it be weird if we all agreed on one system? Twilight Zone type of thing!

                  Cheers

                      I agree Chewie. I have no problem with winning a jackpot of $10 million even if it's before taxes. =)

                        3 to 10 each day depending on the jackpot, and how broke I am getting from the lottery.
