Last night on the TLC cable channel was a show with master magician/illusionist David Blaine. One of the segments had David walking up to a man waiting for a cab and asks "What is your dream?" The man responds, "To win the lottery".
David Blaine sends him into a nearby store to buy three random scratch off lottery tickets. When the man comes out with the three tickets, David asks him to pick his favorite ticket of the three. David gives the man a 'magic coin' to scratch the favorite ticket with. The ticket required getting 3 like symbols to win the associated prize. Scratching the ticket in front of the camera, at first it looks like the man doesn't win, but David then points out a "coin" symbol above one of the prizes. He then points out that the ticket instructions say if you get a "coin" symbol you win all 10 prizes. He adds all 10 prizes up and they total $1600. The man is a bit disbelieving. The camera then follows him and David into a local lottery payout office, the ticket is verified, and the man is given $1600.
Ok, it must have been an illusion, but I would like to know how he did that...
