Just went to MM.com: JP now at $315M for tonight. Higher sales than expected, hopefully!

Wow nice. I'm guessing someone will win tonight, but I'm sure there are many people who hope it rolls.

A rollover tonight would ensure the crowning of a $400 million winner.

Not going to roll.  Too popular.  Too much money involved.  You're talking New York & California spenders - not to mention this big spender in New Jesey.

            Cheers

              "New Jesey?"  LOL

I think it will, given NY'ers spent only about $13.8M on tix for the last draw.. California has never had a higher sales total than NY, with the exception of the first 3 CA draws, at least from what I saw on lottoreport.com.

Thanks for posting that! I use the Massachusetts State Lottery estimate of $315 Million that's ($184,642,290 Estimated Preliminary Cash Option) and if lady luck smiled on me after taxes (Tx here no state taxes) to a single winner my take would be something like 138,481,717. The amount was 136.875.000.

You could always go to www.usamega.com and check on what your estimated take-home would be there, too... that is a great site with loads of info, including estimated taxes and the like.

Your are right, they are great and also they have the numbers up when I can't get through to the MM site (dial-up) because of high traffic. I use Mass lottery because USAMega rounds up and Mass is straight numbers.

By the way USAMega is how I found this message board.

                        For tonight's $315,000,000 draw...

Buy your winning ticket in Manhattan?  $97,770,000 free and clear.

Buy your winning ticket in Weehawken, NJ: $120,250,000* free and clear.

What a difference the Hudson River makes!

Waiting to buy your ticket til after you take the PATH home to Jersey City?  Priceless.  No, make that $22,500,000!

*Provided you are a resident of a lottery-tax free state, such as NJ.

The numbers assume a final tax rate close to 35% Federal, 12.15% Manhattan + NYS.

                          That's crazy... that's over a $22M difference!!!

Too bad Michigan is a tax-hungry state... I wouldn't be surprised if they begin tacking sales tax onto food!

I made a mistake in my first post, since edited.  Manhattan + NYS tax rate is 12.15%, not 11.15%.
