Please understand that I would advocate "A CHOICE."  I personally would remain anonymous in my selection of that option.

You probably can't avoid some media coverage at the outset. If the harrassment persisted, I would probably seek the assistance of an attorney to limit direct interaction with the lottery agency, the media, and other outside parties, and possibly seek out a private detective agency for advice on measures to reduce my family's visibility and improve their security. You now have money. Use it to get expert help.

My vote is to remain anonymous. I don't want the media to see us too much. I would only talk to family members.

I would stand up and be counted.  May be I can use the publicity to get a free bagel.

                Cheers

Or be charged twice the normal price! Because they now know you're a millionaire and you could afford to pay twice the normal price! Bad idea Chewie.

If I had a choice, of course I would stay anonymous.

Treat me wrong - I could buy the place and fire them all.  Nothing says I have to cow down.

Coffee  I just wonder, what is the ADVANTAGE of everyone knowing you won?

The only one, and that would be short lived, was to make a lot of people envy your luck.  And, personally, I'm in no hurry to have a bunch of ex-girlfriends hunting me down.  They're ex's for a reason!

For me, I'd rather think of reasons to tell the boss I was leaving the job.

Most winners (2nd prize and lower) are anonymous if they chose but I think most states avoid giving jackpot winners that choice because losers want to know "who won the jackpot if I didn't?".

When jackpot winners are slow coming forward, losers complain and once in a while some even claim they've won but lost or misplaced the winning ticket.

Winners of lower level prizes even though some of them are quite large aren't required to accept their winnings publicly but in the case of the second prize winners when PowerBall has it cash pool for second place winners a lot of them did go public.  Even losers who think they should have won or been in a pool that won tend to go public.

                             * you don't need to buy more tickets, just buy a winning ticket *

If you are talking about winning millions of dollars, I have to assume you have zero concept of what millions of dollars are!  How much do you make? $50K a year?  If you never spent a penny of fifty thousand dollars, you would have to work twenty years to make only one million dollars.  If you are talking about a 60 million dollars jackpot, you would have to work 1200 years.  Thats twelve hundred years!

You're worried about some ex-girlfriend?  You're worried about telling an employer a lie?

                              SHEEESH !!!!
