After the topic was put up about Arlene Meeks and reading over other topics over a period of time I'm wondering now if you can copyright #'s??

You can's copyright a system that is in writing but, the #'s are free right?????????

So if anyone know of any legal advise or advise on this please post away.

Very curious!!!!!

      As I understand it, you cannot copyright columns of numbers, a lottery wheel, etc. but you can consider as automatically copyrighted the explaination of what those numbers mean.  BobP

              True, although to be honest I'm not a copyright attorney, so I don't know what would happen if someone who owned a copyright on something decided to post it in a public forum.

                After giving it some more thought...it is an interesting question.

                Newspapers are copyrighted.  My understanding is they mail each entire edition to Wash DC.  Magazines are also copyrighted.

                They all contain numbers - page numbers, prices, etc;

                Yet, I doubt they could sue and win if you posted the numbers, even if you acknowledged getting the numbers from a particular newspaper or magazine.  Part of the copyright law, at least in the US, allows quoting a portion of copyright material.  One of the hot copyright topics of the net, is music.  You can go to various sites and listen to a clip for free.  That is allowed with or without permission of the copyright owner.  And there is also the part of copyright law that allows a "personal copy."  Meaning if you own a music CD, you can make a copy for yourself.  But you can't legally make it available to the public.

                Of course there is the grey area where you can copy anything on the net, copyrighted or not - and you don't normally get sued.  Exceptions are RIAA for music.  And now MPAA, (movie producers) want to follow the same idea.

                   LOL.......  no one knows .....until those 12 Fat Ladies on the jury sing !

                   Julies Cesar and his generals were once notified of some sort of unacceptable behavior with-in the Empire. Upon hearing this one of Cesar's Generals made the comment ....." They can't do that ...it's illegal and I'm going back there and clear this up"

                  Cesar said ...." That's right.. and that's what you should do ....only.. take 2 Legions of Soldiers with you........ They make the Law more..shall we say ......LEGAL."  LOL  I really love that guy.

                    I use to always take a picture of my soldiers with me everywhere....they were a hansom group of 10 flesh eating Jewish Lawyers .

                      After collecting my fair share of losing tickets, I've got dibs on "0".

                      Playing more than one ticket per game is betting against yourself.

                              Seems pretty clear:

                              A subscriber to her service is not allowed to distribute the numbers obtained from her to third parties.
