"It's better to be lucky than smart." "You make your own luck in life." "Some folks are just born lucky." In an environment marked by rising tensions and diminished expectations, most of us could use a little luck -- at our companies, in our careers, with our investments. Richard Wiseman thinks that he can help you find some.

      According to Wiseman:

"Chance events are like winning the lottery. They're events over which we have no control, other than buying a ticket. They don't consistently happen to the same person. They may be formative events in people's lives, but they're not frequent."

I guess he can't help us lottery players win a jackpot.

If the guy from Des Moines, Iowa, who was $85,000 in credit card debt, and then filed for bankruptcy can win the December 14 POWERBALL lottery, who are we to say: "we have no hope!"

He may have filed for bankruptcy because he couldn't/wouldn't pay his creditors but he had money to buy lottery tickets.  Anyone who can afford to play can win.

if you're smart you don't have to be lucky. and yes, we make our own luck.

                      According to Wiseman:

I agree with Wiseman's statement. If only lucky people won the lottery then unlucky people like me wouldn't have a chance!  Remember Joe Btfsplk (Lil Abner) the jinx with the dark cloud over his head? I've got one of those! Unhappy

So there is hope. The lottery can uplift the spirits of even the most beaten and downtrodden!

"Sonny it's money that matters, hear what I say
It's money that matters in the USA
                      It's money that matters
Now you know that it's true
It's money that matters whatever you do""
