How to win more lotto for less money.Prev TopicNext Topic
-
Hello all,
I'm a new to the LP forum.
On recent browsings of the bookworld, I read "How to win more - strategies for increasing a lottery win" by Norbert Henze and Norbert Riedwyl. They present many new methods backed by rigourous mathematical statistics from numerous world lotteries.
Some of the new methods of intelligent lotto gameplay suggested are:
(1) Never choose your numbers according to a rule that might be followed by others.
(2) Never choose a combination of numbers using an arithmetic progression.
(3) Never choose a combination of numbers from winning combinations of previous draws.
(4) Never pick the hottest or coldest numbers.
(5) Never pick the most outstanding numbers.
(6) Never choose a previous winning combination from another country or states lottery.
(7) Never choose numbers that form a geometric pattern or symmetric combination.
(8) Never choose a simple arithmetic or geometric modification of a previous winning combination.
(9) Never choose a combination by playing with numbers.
(10) Never play an approximation of an ideal arithmetic or geometric pattern.
Any views?
Regards
JC

(3) Never choose a combination of numbers from winning combinations of previous draws
(9) Never choose a combination by playing with numbers.
I don't agree with those two.
3. There are nubers that repeat from the last 3 to 5 drawings often.
9. In order to create a combo, you have to play with numbers. How else are you going to choose what numbers to include?
The rest of the list makes sense though.
I say....Good show!
Welcome aboard.....How's the Queen doin.....?

The odds of winning a lottery are such that you could make up a list of a million "never do" and they would right almost 100% of the time, just buy a quick pick and you won't have to worry about the "never do" list.
* you don't need to buy every combination, just the winning ones *

Item (3): Statistically every number has the same chance of being drawn as any other number.
The main reason for staying away from combinations of numbers from previous draws is the apparent popularity of such combinations is that others will choose such numbers. hence lower payout. Agreed single numbers will repeat from a given history (say 3-5 draws), But the real question is ,how many draws on average will useful combinations repeat (3+ No's for Div 3 Prize+) from previously compared history. On average for a 6/49 lottery, I consider 3 No's will normally repeat within 100 draws, 4 No's within 400 draws, 5 No's within 2000 draws, and finally 6 No's within 4700 draws. I would appreciate any feedback on these findings for your lotto.
Item (9): This rule is an extention of not following arithmetic or geometric patterns but in a generic way. Say for example some players choose a starting number "a" and a another number "d" which stands for the difference , The rule the player may choose is to "play"with a formulae to get another number. For example the combination 2,5,9,14,20,27 is obtained by starting with a=2, and d=3. There are a whplem myriad of formulaes such as magic squares, primes, lucas, fibonnaci, mersenne number sequences etc... which all have nice properties but alas doomed when forming a unique combination.
Appreciate the feedback.

If we created a database consisting of all the possible combinations and used the "never do" list to eliminate combinations, how many combinations do you think will be left?
Sounds like a system to me. Has anyone tried this?

2.10. The Balance of Nature
All living things are walking computers, because they are wade up of millions of combination. Our DNA for example can be expressed in numbers. Nature is the ultimate "player", because it had millions of years to draw the winners and it made a very good job, balancing our features. For example, one feature is centered, like your noose, two features are very well balanced, each one on a side, at the same level, like your eyes. If you have ten features, they are in perfect harmony, like our fingers, five for each hand. Lotto, as you can well imagine, didn’t had millions of years to balance the drawing, so there are some which are out of balance. You have to realize which drawings are good for your game, and which aren’t. My method uses only the proof that the Lotto games work, and not it’s history. If you want to use a system that selects the drawing history, try to set the system the second time without the "out of balanced" games. If you track the results you will probably find a well-balanced Lotto with your own history.
Tools for lotto:
These are the same tools like the ones from Pick 3: a history of the game, the 10 most recent numbers and a pen and paper.
2.11. The Balance of Lotto Balance
These numbers are of balanced number drawings. When you have fewer numbers, the chance of occurrence is bigger.
- 1. HIGH & LOW: if you list the winning numbers from lowest first digit to the highest last digit, you will be able to draw a line between the third and the fourth. Here is an example: 10/09/93 05-14-18-|-26-28-39
10/16/93 04-15-16-|-28-31-40
10/23/93 02-19-22-|-27-34-47
10/30/93 02-05-09-|-14-30-34
In this example you can consider that the mid point is at, 24/25 or 25/26, which is half of 49. In more then 50% cases, half of the numbers are above and half below the mid.
16
- 2. THIRDS: If you want to split the drawings in three, you will have three patterns: 16,16 and 17. The first groups would be 01-16, the second 17-32 and the third 33-49. In many cases numbers fall in groups like 2-2-2 or variation of the pattern 1-2-3 (like: 1-3-2, 3-2-1, 3-1-2, 2-3-1).
- 3. ODDS & EVENS: the odd numbers are: 1,3,5,7 and the even numbers are: 2,4,6,8. Almost 50% of the winning numbers have balanced the odds & even, having 3 odd numbers and 3 even numbers. Only 40% will have 2 odd and 4 even or 4 odd and 2 even.
- 4. REPEATERS: the repeaters are the numbers, which were drawn at the last game and were drawn at the present game. The possibility that a number could be a repeater is almost 50%, but 40% say that three will be no repeaters, and only in 10% of the cases more then one number will repeat.
- 5. SEQUENTIALS: these are the consecutive numbers that are drawn in the same game (example: 7& 8, 12 & 13). These numbers appear in a small game in 50% of the cases, but at bigger games only in 20% of the cases.
- 6. SEQUENTIAL ODD/EVEN: these are the numbers odd/even, which are drawn consecutive (example: 26 & 28, 47 & 49).
- 7. SEQUENTIAL LEAP FROG: This happens when the number in front or after the drawn number will be drawn in the next game (example: the drawn numbers are: 03-15-18-29-44 and the possible leapers are 02,04,14,16,17,19,28,30,43, 45). In the lotto games the numbers 01 and 49 are considered to be sequential.
- 8. CENTERED SEQUENTIAL LEAP FROG: this happens when the number between a sequential odd/even pair is the next drawn (example: this numbers are drawn: 07-09-16-29-32-34, and the sequential pairs are 07-09, 32-34)
- 9. LAST 3-6 GAMES: If you study your lotto game you will see that in 20%-30% of the cases, three (or more) of the winning numbers will be found in the three previous games and in the last four games will be found in 40%-50%. Usually it’s obvious that three numbers from the last four games will be drawn along with three numbers, which haven’t been drawn in the last four games.
- 10. LAST DIGITS: this happens when two numbers, which are drawn together and have the last same digit (example: 06 & 26, 08 & 38, 17 & 37). In 50% of the drawings two numbers will have the last same digit and many will have two or more. Fla 6/49 10/93 02-19-22-27-34-47. Because most drawings contain two numbers, which have the last same digit, if at a drawing these numbers don’t come up, it is almost sure that the next drawing will contain two sets. For example: Fla 6/49 10/30/94 02-05-09-14-30-34 is a draw. Remember that 19 was followed by 09, 34 by 14 and 34.
Now check your history for examples:

- 11. DOUBLE DIGITS: We say that a number has double digits when it has the same digit in the front and in the back (example: 22,33,44,55,66). Although they are few, these numbers are very often drawn with the same last digit (13-33) or with another double digit (33-44), but numbers with half or double the other are very rare (11-22 & 22-44).
- 12. ADDITION: This happens when the sum of two drawn numbers make the third one (example: 07-10-12-22-47-48, 10 & 12 are summed and the result is 22).
- 13. HALF OR DOUBLE: This happens when a number is half or double of another number, from the same drawing (example: 14-16-19-28-39-48, 14 is the double of 28 or 28 is half of 14).
- 14. REVERSE DIGITS: This happens when a number is the reverse of another in the same drawing (example: 14-41, 04-40, 12-21).
26 39 49 54
01 10 01 10 12 21 01 10 12 21 01 10 12 21
02 20 02 20 13 31 02 20 13 31 02 20 13 31
12 21 03 30 23 32 03 30 14 41 03 30 14 41
04 40 23 32 04 40 15 51

34 43 24 42
25 52
34 43
35 53
45 54
Sometimes this numbers are followed in the next drawing by their reverse (example: yesterday’s drawing contained 02 and today’s drawing contains 20).
- 15. MULTIPLE: This happens when numbers can be multiplied to make a third number in the same set (06x08=48).
- 16. DIVISION: This happens when a number can be divided into two different numbers from the same set (example: 18 is divided into 03 & 06).
- 17. POSITION: Most numbers like to have a fixed position in almost every lottery draw. The positions are: the first one between 01-13, the second between 05-21, the third position between 16-29, forth position between 26-38, fifth position 31-44 and the sixth position between 41-49. Follow the strong patterns and ignore the numbers which don’t know their position.
- 18. BINGO: Play as much tickets as you need to cover all your numbers. For example, for 49 numbers you should have at least 8 or 9 tickets. This way, the chances you will win are increasing rapidly.

2.12. How to Create A Winning Ticket
Don’t try to get all of the rules above on a single ticket. Start with a simple system and then work your way up to complex matrixes. First you have to practice before you actually play. Let’s say that these numbers were at the last drawing: 07-15-27-34-38-44. Now write the numbers that can leap frog, note H (hot) above the ones that have been drawn in the last games and C (cold) above the ones that haven’t. HCCCHCCCCHCC 06-08-14-16-26-28-33-35-37-39-43-45. Write the numbers which appear in the last three drawings: 02-05-06-07-12-15-17-23-25-26-27-30-34-36-38-39-40-41- 44-47 * * * * * * , then star the ones that appear in your repeater set. Note the odds and evens, the numbers that have the last same digit and are sequential numbers. Then note the numbers which weren’t in the winning draws 01-03-04-09-10-11-13-18-19-20-21-22-24-29-31-32-42-46-48-49 and brake down the last winning draw.
07
15
27
34
38
44
Now search the numbers that could leap frog, the numbers which are half/double the above, those who have the last same digit and reverse digits and then add them above.
07-47
15-45
27-37
14-34
08-38 14-44
If you notice, one number from each set come from the last four drawings. Now look for the leap froggers, the numbers that will keep you in the high/low spread, and the numbers that can be added to make other numbers. (05+08=13). 07-23-30-47 06-15-39-45 02-05-27-37 the 2&5=7+20 from zero hits = 27. 12-14-26-34 08-12-23-38 12+23=35 from zero hits. 14-17-31-44
The numbers that haven’t been drawn recently will balance the high/low, odd/even. Now search the numbers that are sequential sets (14-15) and sequential odd sets (15-17). 05-07-23-30-42-47 06-10-15-16-39-45 02-05-20-27-37-42 12-14-23-26-34-49 08-12-23-35-38-48 03-14-17-31-44-45 At first, you could not notice the relationships between the numbers, but as you gain experience, it will be a lot easier and you won’t have to force the numbers to fit.
19
2.13. How I Play
When you play the Fla 6/49 you should play eight or nune sets of numbers, which cover all 49 numbers. This way you will have all the 6 winning numbers on your tickets. Write down the numbers thet you want to play. Write the leapers, odd/even, sequential, reverse. You want to create a set of numbers thet will win, not that will just fit. Combine your best parts with other numbers that fit your pattern. For example: if you create a set like: 03-06-09-18-30-48, you have: 03+06=09, 03x06=18, 03+06+09=18, 09 doubled is 18, 03 & 30 are reversed, 18+30=48, 18 & 48 have the same last digit. In this example you can seeall the demands for a winning ticket. As you get more experience, you will be able to see thet winning numbers from the last drawing can predict the next game. Let’s say thet 14 was in the last drawing. It can predict 04,14,24,34,41,44. If you get lost and don’t know what to do, look into your drawing history and find patterns. Then note how many times the numbers have repeated, the neighbours of the previous winner, the sets of numbers with the same last digit, the numbers which can be added to form a third number in the same set, the reverse numbers, the sequential numbers and the odd/even.
EXAMPLES(from Fla 6/49)
- 09/04/93 10-15-20-38-39-43

Thanks for the responses - Glad to be onboard.
The proposed rules/filters are presented for discussion.
RJOh,
So I assume you have not signed the petition to eliminate computerised draws!.
The main point to note is that there are plenty of "never do" rules , but few which have had extensive statistical back testing as presented by the authors of the book. I believe these rules can be worked up as a set of first pass elimination conditions prior to applying the many public domain software filters available (See Pacattack05's thread on the Balance of nature).
As you realise I don't agree with Quick Pick's of any form as this is free money for Lottery Regulators. Guaranteed every combination is played and repeated many times with no consideration to lotto ticket balance.
Jackpot analysis for example in California's 6/51 (1993/1994):
Manual Play - 1993 (20 ) - 1994(16)
Quick Pick - 1993(29) - 1994(33)
Payout
Manual Play - 1993($7,470,546) - 1994($7,466,040)
Quick Play -1993($9,013,138) - 1994($11,855,858)
Similar proportions, I have found for French (6/49) and UK National (6/49) Lotteries. These figures reflect that playing QP does not increase player's chance of hitting the jackpot. The drawing machine is impartial with respect to manual or quick play, however if one were to play QP, then all aspects of lotto ticket balance is in the hands of the regulators.
GASMETERGUY ,
I haven't formed a database yet, but I'm willing to start with these first 10 "never do" rules. Please purchase the book for the statistical analysis uncovered on the numerous world lotteries.
For analogy, if we "never do" or play 6Odd/0Even tickets for a 6/49 Lottery, we effectively eliminate (54,264 lines) same for 6Even/0Odd!. This is far better than having a QP machine select a most unlikely combination.
pacattac05,
Thank you for the insight into your strategy "balance of lotto balance". I find the filter settings fascinating.
Qu2) What is your success rate on Fla (6/49)?.
Best RegardsJC

I don't play the 6/53 game because of the high odds. I'll play a quick pick here and there, but that's about it. I play the Fantasy five game, but most I hit was for 4 out of five.
The high odds of Lotto are almost 23 million to one. It's like taking 26 quarters and throwing them up in the air and all of them landing on heads. Try that with only 5 quarters and you'll be tossing for almost a day before they all land on one side.
I really haven't sat down and implemented all the rules above in that balance thing yet. But I'm reading bits and pieces here and there.

I thought y'all would like to share some of the following frequently asked questions :
(1) Is it profitable to play all the number combinations with a syndicate?.
Apart from the rare occasion that a syndicate deliberately goes out to buy every ticket such as the Australlian Syndicate which covered every combination and won!. I believe the answer has to be a definite no.
The issue is worse when one joins an online syndicate (usually at crazy prices), we all know the dangers in participating in such scams. Except for extraordinary situations such as jackpot overlaying, which arises if the first division has not been drawn for several draws, and the players have not yet increased their bettings proportionately to the size of the jackpot. Rollovers are the only worthwhile lotteries, a jackpot would then contains millions of francs contributed by tickets that no longer have a chance of winning. The speculative value of these forfeited francs, increases with an increasing number of competing tickets. But even in the situation with a very large jackpot overlay , it is doubtful a group of investors playing all combinations would even get their money back (although,in addition to having to share the jackpot , they would also get fractions of the lower division prizes). The key issue is wheither the syndicate can match and cover both popular and unpopular combinations. If an unpopular combination comes up on the draw night, payouts for all prize division will be large ,and no one else shares the jackpot with the investors(provided there are no other palyers with the same idea claim the grand prizes). In this specific case playing all combinations would be profitable. If a popular combination comes up on draw night, payouts are bad and irrate players have to share the jackpot with many. In conclusion it simply does pay to buy the pot.
(2) Is it better to play the same numbers or skip around every draw?
The answer to this is simple, it does not matter and makes no difference from a statistical point of view.
Since past results have no bearing on future winning combinations, at least for the chances of winning one of the various prizes. However, the prospect of winning more,if you do win, should at the very least preclude the choice of more or less foolish combinations. The best strategy is either keep playing or skip around your favorite combinations but always choose your numbers according to an intelligent style of play. So you see where I'm coming from with regard to quick picks and online syndicate participation.
(3) Does it pay to play a combination several times?
In the long run, as far as the return on each lottery franc is concerned the answer is no. Suppose you play your combination twice and you hit the jackpot with that combination, If you are the only first division winner, you will win the whole pot regardless wheither you played the combination once, twice, or even more times. In this case the duplicate ticket is as good as useless, since it only adds a few francs to the jackpot. If there is one other jackpot winner, you will get a 50% share of the jackpot playing one ticket. If you have a duplicate tiicket, the jackpot will have to be split up among three winners , so your share will be two thirds, 67% share of the jackpot prize. A second ticket gives you ana additional 17% of the ticket. The result is similar if there than two jackpot winners. For lreasons stated particularly ower division prizes, it is so important to adopt a robust wheel with respect to coverage vs cost. Choose wisely.
Good Luck for the big one!.
Regards
JC

"RJOh,So I assume you have not signed the petition to eliminate computerised draws!."
I haven't signed it but I do support it and I don't play lotteries that use computer picked numbers. I only play three lotteries, MegaMillions, Ohio Rolling Cash5 and some times PowerBall.
I pick the combinations I play using a RNG program which I can set the parameters to compares its picks with previous drawings to eliminate combinations that match previous combinations within those preset parameters. Probably if I checked, all the combinations picked would pass all those "never do" rules as would likely any quick pick. The advantage of using a program to pick my combinations is that I don't get any duplications of past hits or within the playing group unless I set the parameters to accept them.
I haven't won a jackpot yet, but I keep trying. Good luck on your efforts.
RJOh
* you don't need to buy every combination, just the winning ones *

A shared prize is better then no prize at all. If the path to winning includes something you've been told never to do, spend the extra dollar unless you are afraid you're only entitled to one big win in your life and don't want to waste it on a shared prize, in which case you better be willing to wait your turn for a long time.
I would advise splitting off from playing what many people are known to do, including playing a popular software at the defaults with the obvious wheel.
When a lottery breaks the game down into say 500 combination lots with the claim one will automatically include the jackpot, it's a sucker pitch, you are better off playing your own 500 lines with say a 3if4of6 guarantee then playing a consecutive chunk that will likely have no winning lines and the chunk with the winning line(s) likely won't even be sold. It's like buying a roll of Scratch Offs when there might not be a prize worth winning in the entire city.
The lottery is like an onion, there are layers where on the surface advice can be good, then deeper layers where the advice turns against you and nothing you do changes your odds, then there are core truths you can build a strategy around once you have understanding how the game works as a lottery number universe.
The best way to get more for your money is open cover wheeling designs you can make in CoverMaster. A 90+% wheel can cost half the price of a 100% and almost always wins and saves your more then the guaranteed win when you lose. You can find a copy of the free v54 version of CoverMaster at http://www.lotto-logix.com/wheellinks.html the newer version you have to wait for a password, well worth it, but the free version works and you can get used to it while you wait for the newer verison's password. Hello all,
I'm a new to the LP forum.
Any views?
Regards
JC
By following all of those rules it only leaves u to do one thing....
(11) Just don't play at all.

3) Never choose a combination of numbers from winning combinations of previous draws.
This is true about 45% of the time. I have had luck with it, but have also been burnt by it.
"you're only entitled to one big win in your life"
If you get even ONE. But yeah tell that to that lady in my state who won back to back million dollar wins via a scratch off. The only reason you do not want to play numbers in a sequence such as 10 15 20 25 30 etc, is because the odds of sharing it with a million others is higher than picking a more unique combination.

Bienvenue sur la page d'accueil de Jacques Coustaux.
Lotto in my experience is like a gastronomic love affair, each time one enters the kitchen we are presented with the tools and ingredients to cook great cuisine. Bien.

The debate RNG vs CNG seems very much alive.
I followed previous LP threads on the subject and it appears you have a very interesting algorithm (particularly the seeding and combo reduction features). Without knowing to much about your program, I wish to point out once a modification to settings of any kind is made, you are effectively introducing bias into the scheme and then move away from the realms of pure RNG. Originally I tested out two blocks of 50 combinations using the LP RNG, and to my surprise there were plenty of overlapping duplications, unbalanced entries etc...,this is no different to any QP machine. We have been using a program which follows the same ethos as yours namely modified quick pic and smart pick available on (Set balance factor >6). For 100 randomised tickets we have had better performance compared with the LP RNG.

No need to wait too long for the" big un". Gotta be in it to win it.
Have you read the wheeling vs randomly under the lotto logix articles http:\\www.lotto-logix.com, the issue which you correctly point relates to my original concern that random selection of any kind leaves many holes in the coverage space, but overtime balances out when compared to a full wheel. We have been using many EXCEL wheels for sometime and nothing beats the 100% wheel. Thank you for the information regarding the excellent freeware version of Covermaster Ver54. I originally mistook it as a beta version of the embedded Covermaster program found in Lottoarchitect V2.2. I'm sure authors are not filing a patent claim, but instead prefer to help lotto pundits. May the new freeware version be as good as the last!.
Scratch the scratch card!

I'm interested in receiving numerical statistics based on your lotto experience towards some of these new rules. Check them out.

Items(2,7)
Symmetric, Arithmetic and Geometric Progressions, Repeat Combinations etc..., all do occur but not too frequently. This is what I'm seeking to find out about your lotttery.
For example Fla 6/49 upto January 21, 1995 (200 draws), 195 of these winning combinations had arithmetic complexities which did not appear as normalised SP's, AP's and GP'S!.
Another typrical example of lotto players weekly preferences to follow patterns, and shapes across the board. On August 27th1994 Finnish Draw, there were in excess of 3500 players who marked their 5/6 balls on the diagonal of the board, this is not atypical but an AP with a nice looking diagonal. So you may ask why Finnish Lotto players would go against the trend and play an ugly favorite combination, Don't they like upwards diagonals?. They do but they found themselves in a geometric dilemma.Trying to build an upward from upper right to lower end of the Finnish board yields the six number combination 6,11, 16,21,26,31. But there is still one number to choose on the board since Finnish Lotto has 7/39. The universal point raised is that any given week players play their numbers according to a nice board patterns, and there are plenty of SP's,AP's and GP's played without useful returns
Item (3) ,
Never choose a combination of numbers from winning combinations from previous draws.
Again this is to say previous combinations but not that frequently. Sirbrad mentions 45% success rate on his lotto, I would like to hear more on the statistics split for (Div 3+ win , i.e:3,4,5,5+1,6 ball win for 6/49).
How many draws will it take on average to gain a (3+) repeat combination win.?.
